Chapter 722:
I stopped for a moment, then continued coldly, “I’ll take justice into my own hands. Everyone who had a hand in your death will answer for it. That’s why I have to push Ethan away. I can’t allow him to watch me walk toward destruction, and I can’t allow my love for him to be the chain that holds me back from getting revenge.”
Rain suddenly poured down from the sky, heavy drops hitting the case filing notice and blurring my vision.
Two months slipped by in the blink of an eye.
During that time, my days were peaceful. I had deliberately erased Ethan from my life.
I hardly saw him anymore. The little I knew about him came from Tracy whenever she called to complain.
Tracy’s stomach had become noticeably round, and she now held her lower back when she walked.
Since the doctor had ordered strict bed rest to protect the baby, she and Jeremy had no choice but to postpone their wedding.
“Lianne, I’m going crazy!” Tracy called just before I got off work one evening, sounding pitiful. “Come have seafood with me tonight, please. Just this once, I promise! Jeremy isn’t home today.”
Unable to hold out against her endless pleading, I chuckled and finally agreed.
Just as I submitted my project progress report, Alex motioned for me to come over. His brows were tightly knitted together. “Lianne, about your resignation,” he began. “We still haven’t found someone to take over as director, and the board is getting worried. Would you be willing to stay a little longer? At least until the project moves into phase two?”
I turned him down politely. “Alex, my resignation has been finalized. I’m no longer staff here. It wouldn’t be appropriate for me to stay.”

After I returned to my desk, my phone buzzed with a message from Frank. “I’ve got a date tonight. Tell me what you think?”
A photo was attached. The woman in it wore a soft smile, and her elegant, refined presence made her look as beautiful as a flower in full bloom.
“You two look wonderful together,” I replied honestly. “She seems like a perfect match for you. Treasure her, and I hope the two of you settle down soon.”
As I looked at the picture he had sent, a genuine smile appeared on my face.
Someone as warm and kind as Frank deserved better than spending his life chasing hopeless infatuation.
Seeing him willing to open his heart to someone else made me sincerely happy. I was relieved he finally got it: there was no future for us.
From the bottom of my heart, I hoped he would find himself a mate and enjoy the peaceful, happy life he deserved.
Remembering that Tracy was waiting for me, I set aside the remaining reports that weren’t urgent enough to finish today, deciding to deal with them tomorrow. Then I picked up my bag and headed for Jeremy’s villa.
Before I even walked through the door, Tracy’s lively complaints were already echoing throughout the house.
Even though she was pregnant and confined to bed rest, her endless energy hadn’t faded in the slightest.
