Chapter 385:
I turned my hand over and tightly held his little hand in mine, feeling the connection carried through our shared blood.
Silas gripped my hand just as firmly. “Can you take me to visit Jeremy in a few days?”
The warmth of his soft, small hand resting in my palm felt like a current surging straight into my chest.
I froze. For some seconds, I couldn’t even breathe.
I had always been ruthless and decisive in business, and in my territory, my word was law. Yet now, I was actually struggling to hold back emotion because of the unguarded kindness of a three-year-old child.
Bit by bit, I tightened my fingers around his tiny hand, holding it carefully in mine.

My grip was gentle and careful, as if I feared damaging this fragile trust I had only just gained. But beneath that caution was a desperate need to hold on, the kind born from losing something and regaining it.
“Alright,” I replied in a rough, low voice. “The moment Jeremy wakes up, I’ll bring you to see him. He likes children a lot, and he has even taken care of you a few times before. Once he sees you again, he’ll definitely be happy.”
Silas lifted his head and looked at me. His sparkling eyes gleamed with a kind of scrutiny no child his age should possess.
Then, all of a sudden, he asked with sincere confusion, “Why aren’t you making me call you Dad? Based on how you Alphas usually act, shouldn’t you be forcing me to change the way I address you already? And shouldn’t you have locked me inside this house for some elite heir training by now?”
Ethan’s POV
Looking at Silas’s face, so uncannily like mine, I let out a faint, bitter smile.
“I’ve never liked forcing anything.” I lowered myself into a crouch until we were eye level. Then Lianne’s face appeared in my thoughts, stubborn as ever, distant and impossible to read. “I want you to call me Dad because you truly accept me. Not because some DNA test says you should.”
Silas went quiet. After a moment, he asked softly, “Aren’t you worried I came here to trick you into giving me money? Or, what if I’m really not your son? You’re being this nice to me. Wouldn’t that be a loss?”
I reached out and softly pinched his chubby cheek.
His face was soft and warm, with a faint, pleasant scent.
“Money means nothing to me. It’s just numbers,” I said, meeting his eyes with unwavering certainty. “But your face tells me enough. So does the Alpha aura in you that carries my mark. In this world, blood has instincts no one can fake.”
The moment the words left my mouth, Silas’s expression changed. His eyes sharpened with caution. Like a startled little animal, he quickly pulled back and shoved his hand deep into the pocket of his hoodie.
My heart sank. Ivy’s poisonous words from last night rang through my head again.
She insisted the child was hers. She said Lianne had run away overseas with another man.
