Chapter 263:
I shut my eyes, no longer able to endure looking at his face.
“Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat? I asked the servant to make your favorite…” He bent closer with careful hesitation, trying to calm me.
“Get out,” I said with icy contempt.
“Lianne, hear me out…”
“I said, get out!” I snapped my eyes open and screamed at him with every ounce of strength I had left, my voice raw and ragged. “Ethan, I don’t want to look at you for even one second! Keep your distance, or I will come at you!”
A bitter smile touched my lips, and my eyes brimmed with scorn. “What, you’re not going to lock me in the bedroom this time? Not acting like some tyrant now?”
Ethan went still, like an old stone figure left out in the wind.
He said nothing for so long it felt endless, until the room seemed to harden around us. Then he rose slowly, and when he finally spoke, his voice came out quiet and fractured.
“Alright… I’ll go. Don’t work yourself up. When the servant comes, try to eat a little.”
He left with the air of a beaten man and gently shut the door behind him, but the soft click landed on my heart like a brutal blow.

The room fell silent again.
I drew myself into the blanket, tears pouring without end. I bitterly regretted ever letting him mark me and make me his Luna.
From the very beginning, our mate bond had been nothing but a mistake.
It felt like some vicious, senseless joke the Moon Goddess had made while watching the world below.
Not long later, the servant came in and placed a hot meal nearby.
“Take it away. I’m not hungry.” I turned away from her, my voice empty. “I want to be by myself. Don’t let anyone in. No one.”
At that moment, all I wanted was to remain alone in that darkness, grieving the child I had lost before I ever got the chance to meet them.
Lianne’s POV
The room lay in half-darkness, broken now and then by the sound of footsteps passing through the corridor as the staff moved about their rounds.
I felt someone come up to the bed and, on instinct, assumed Ethan had come back. I kept my eyes shut, unwilling to give him even a single look.
Then, a familiar voice, calm but edged with a trace of coolness, drifted into my ears.
“Lianne, it’s me.”
I slowly lifted my eyes and met Frank’s gaze.
“What are you doing here?” My voice came out rough, drained and hollow with fatigue.
Frank did not answer right away. Instead, he glanced at the bowl of cereal sitting untouched and cold on the nightstand, and a faint crease formed between his brows. “Why haven’t you eaten? Do you want me to feed you?”
I gave a bitter shake of my head. Just breathing already took too much effort, and I had no desire to eat anything.
