Chapter 34:
Ivy had insisted on swapping out the makeup artist I had arranged, bringing in her own team before the shoot. I had agreed to it, choosing peace for the sake of progress, never imagining that it would later be thrown back in my face.
Without wasting time, I called the PR team. “Get this post taken down, now. Issue a statement that the styling was altered by the celebrity’s team without our approval.”
But the assistant’s voice betrayed a sense of resignation. “Nancy has already reported it. Senior management has decided to protect the celebrity’s image. We’ll release a joint statement with Ivy’s team, explaining that it was a visual issue caused by lighting. No one will be held responsible.”
I let out a bitter laugh, the phone slipping from my grip and landing on the couch.
No one would be held responsible? Wasn’t that just admitting, plain and simple, that I, the one responsible, had completely screwed up?
And now, with Ivy in the mix, Ethan couldn’t even give me the most basic ounce of trust.
Then, as if on cue, a servant entered with a delivery box. “Ma’am, your package.”

I hadn’t ordered anything recently. My curiosity piqued, I opened it.
The moment I saw what was inside, terror gripped me. I screamed, instinctively tossing the box aside.
There, lying in the box, was a grotesque doll. Its eyes were painted blood-red, and a photo of me had been pinned to its body, covered in needles.
As the doll hit the floor, a fine silver powder burst into the air, landing on the back of my hand.
The instant it touched me, a sharp, burning pain ripped through my skin.
That was silver powder. For a werewolf, silver wasn’t just painful; it was deadly.
Though I had lost my wolf, the intense agony my body experienced was a reminder of how deeply it still affected me. The sensation was so sharp, so consuming, that I felt the edges of my consciousness begin to blur.
“Ma’am!” The servant’s voice was filled with panic as she rushed to clean up the mess.
“Don’t touch that!” I shouted through gritted teeth, fighting back the searing pain. “Get to the garden and get the herbs.”
My legs trembled as I hobbled into the bathroom, splashing cold water on my hand, but it did little to soothe the burning agony. My skin, already raw and blistered, throbbed with every movement.
I didn’t call Ethan. If he found out, he would probably assume this was just another trick to win his attention.
With my hand shaking, I directed the servant to secure the area while I contacted the pack’s Gamma warriors to initiate an investigation.
The response came quickly. The package had been sent by one of Ivy’s most obsessive followers. After seeing the heated social media posts, they believed I had been undermining Ivy on set and had decided to retaliate with this cruel stunt.
Once everything had been sorted, I slumped back onto the couch, drained, my hand wrapped in heavy bandages.
I unlocked my phone and was met with an overflowing inbox.
“Leave Voss Group, you wicked woman!”
