Chapter 129:
Even if she could get Ethan to stay out with her all night, I was still the one who could be in his arms whenever I wanted.
I was the mate fate had given him.
I had every right to do this. Even if Ivy ran to Ethan and caused trouble, he would only see her as unreasonable. He would never tell me to delete that photo of us.
I was already looking forward to watching her break down.
The following afternoon, after lunch, Mark Taylor, head of the business department, proposed a round of spin the bottle with truth or dare mixed in to liven things up.
“Whoever the bottle points to has to pick truth or dare, and if you won’t choose, you drink three shots!” Mark shouted, drawing over quite a few employees.
Ethan, who had been in the lounge handling documents, got dragged into it by Mark as well.
“We don’t get chances like this to hang out very often. Want to play a few rounds with us?” Mark smiled as he passed him a drink.
Ethan put down his tablet, cast me an unreadable glance, and then, to everyone’s surprise, gave a nod. “Fine, I’ll play for a bit.”
The group instantly burst into excited cheers.

After several rounds, the atmosphere grew lively.
When Mark’s turn came, he snapped the bottle hard with his fingers, sending the green beer bottle spinning fast across the tabletop.
It slowly lost speed, then finally stopped with the neck aimed at Ethan.
The room immediately broke into loud teasing.
Mark rubbed his palms together and grinned with mischief. “Truth or dare?”
Ethan reclined in his chair, at ease but still carrying that unshakable composure. His long fingers casually circled the rim of his glass as he answered in an even tone, “Truth.”
Mark was obviously ready for this. He flicked a glance at my blank face, then asked a question that made the entire room fall silent at once.
“Then I’ll stop holding back. Was Ivy the first woman you had sex with?”
At that moment, my entire body stiffened.
Lianne’s POV
For one brief moment, it seemed as though the room had been emptied of air.
My eyes stayed locked on the glass on the table, and the tips of my fingers turned freezing cold.
Ethan said nothing for a second. He didn’t look at Ivy; his gaze moved idly through the drifting smoke and came to rest on me.
“No,” he replied.
The knot in my chest loosened in an instant, and a hidden, shameful spark of joy quietly spread through the deepest part of my heart.
So they hadn’t crossed that final line when they were together.
For three whole years, I had believed I was merely a pathetic replacement. I had never once expected that, in the most intimate sense, I would be the only one.
Mark was obviously unwilling to leave it there and wanted to keep asking, but Ethan silenced him with one frosty look. “One question each round. That’s the rule.”
Still, it was as if fate insisted on playing tricks on him.
