Chapter 425:
This man was completely out of his mind.
I had assumed Ethan would either stop by some high-end restaurant to get food or simply return to his mansion and have a chef prepare dinner.
Surprisingly, about ten minutes later, he steered the car into the underground parking garage of a nearby supermarket chain.
After parking, he turned off the engine, walked around to my side, and opened the passenger door. The gesture came so naturally that it felt as though we had never been apart.
“Come on. We’re going in together,” he said, looking down at me casually.
I remained firmly seated, every part of me resisting the idea. “Ethan, have you completely lost it? This is a public place. You’re the CEO of Voss Group, and I’m your employee. What happens if someone recognizes us or takes a photo of us shopping together?”
I was very aware of how ruthless the media could be.
Besides, I was still Frank’s mate in name. The last thing I needed was another complication added to my already messy life.
Ethan seemed to read every thought crossing my mind. Resting one hand against the car door, he bent slightly closer, and his familiar scent immediately filled my nose.
“Relax. No one would dare take a picture. And anyway, I can’t carry all those groceries on my own,” he said in a rough tone, arching an eyebrow.

He couldn’t carry groceries? A powerful Alpha who could rip apart a ferocious beast with nothing but his bare hands was claiming he couldn’t manage a few shopping bags?
Still, I knew arguing with him would get me nowhere.
With obvious reluctance, I undid my seatbelt and stepped out of the car, making sure to keep a safe distance between us.
Once inside the supermarket, Ethan grabbed a shopping cart as though he did this every day and casually led the way.
Without his suit jacket, he looked far less intimidating. The crisp white shirt he wore clung neatly to his frame, and the sleeves were rolled up, exposing strong forearms lined with lean muscle.
Walking behind him, I couldn’t stop my thoughts from wandering.
In the werewolf world, Ethan was an Alpha with absolute authority, the one whose decisions could determine life or death.
But at this moment, he was standing in front of a produce shelf, carefully examining organic vegetables.
If everything hadn’t fallen apart three years ago… If Ivy had never entered our lives… Maybe we could have been happy together.
Maybe after work we would have come to places like this, shopping side by side like an ordinary couple. We would debate what to cook for dinner before returning home to children waiting for us with eager smiles.
But these were mere fantasies.
Ethan eventually stopped in front of the seafood section.
“Could you clean this fish for me?” he asked one of the employees, pointing toward a large fish swimming in the tank.
