Chapter 496:
“That’s enough!” Melisa finally intervened, unable to hold back any longer. Her hands worked quickly to clean my injuries as she turned to Rola, speaking in a tone that was both respectful and resolute. “Mrs. Voss, the Alpha’s condition is very unstable right now. Any emotional distress could reopen his wounds. If you truly care about him, please leave and allow me to treat him in peace.”
Rola threw me one final, poisonous glare before storming out of the room in a furious rage.
After everything had been settled, Melisa reattached the monitoring equipment and gazed at the blood-soaked bandages covering my chest.
She let out a sigh and started to step out after Rola, intending to speak with her in the hallway.
“Melisa,” I called out, making her stop mid-step.
She turned around, confused.

“Give me your word: keep this between us.” I held her gaze, my voice steady despite how weak I was. “Don’t let Lianne know I hurt myself. Don’t tell her the wound opened up again. Just say… just say I accidentally knocked into the equipment.”
I didn’t want Lianne to find out just how strongly the Thorn Pack opposed her. More than that, I didn’t want her to know I was clashing with my own family just to keep her by my side.
The burden of those heavy, painful truths, I would bear alone.
A complex look flickered across Melisa’s eyes. In the end, she simply gave a silent nod and shut the door behind her.
Through the thick, soundproof door, I could just make out the muffled sound of Rola’s furious shouting from the hallway.
“I will never accept her!” Rola’s voice rang out, sharp and unyielding, carrying an air of absolute finality. “Even if it means disowning Ethan, I will never allow Lianne to set foot in this pack again! Who does she think she is? A penniless orphan from a ruined family! She doesn’t deserve the honor of the Thorn Pack, and she certainly doesn’t deserve to be our Luna!”
“Mrs. Voss, can’t you see?” Melisa’s voice grew impassioned, as if she were making one final attempt to appeal to her. “Their love is unshakable. The Alpha would rather rip open his own wounds to stand up for her, and Ms. Riley would sacrifice everything just to stay by his side… Isn’t that kind of brave, selfless devotion enough to prove she’s worthy?”
“She’s worthy?” Rola let out a bitter, icy laugh, her tone as cold as a winter gale. “In the Thorn Pack, bloodlines and interests are what matter, not some idealistic, short-lived romance. As long as I’m breathing, she will always be an outsider.”
Lianne’s POV:
By the time I hurried back from the small house where Tracy was temporarily staying, the snowstorm sweeping through Thiynia had grown even fiercer.
Brushing the snow from my shoulders, I pushed open the hospital room door and immediately spotted Ethan sitting upright against the headboard, a document in his hands as he read with a thoughtful expression.
“Why are you sitting up already?” I asked, unable to hide the delight surging through me as I quickly made my way over.
He looked noticeably better. Color had returned to his face, and the lingering gloom that had shadowed his features seemed to have faded. For a moment, I thought his recovery had finally taken a turn for the better.
