Chapter 367:
I lifted a hand impatiently, cutting him off. I didn’t want to hear it.
“Any update on the boy?” I asked.
“We widened the search perimeter. The entire city is on lockdown.” He studied me carefully, then asked, “But if this is really a setup, what will you do when we find him? Kill him?”
Ethan’s POV
Kill that child?
Just the thought of it sent a sharp, unfamiliar pain twisting through my chest.

That overwhelming pull of a blood bond wasn’t something any potion in the world could imitate.
“Jeremy, if you ever try setting me up with another woman again, I’ll banish you from the pack,” I said coldly, fixing him with a deadly stare.
He visibly recoiled. “Alright, alright, no more women. But that Brian guy, he’s been getting awfully close to Lianne lately. I heard he used to stick by her side constantly at the company, always accompanying her on every business trip.”
My hand tightened instinctively around the glass.
Brian had always had a thing for Lianne.
“Enough!” I slammed the glass onto the table, shattered pieces slicing into my palm.
Lianne was mine. Broken mate bond or not, hatred or not, anyone who dared lay a hand on her, I would rip apart without mercy.
By late night, I was drunk enough that even walking became difficult.
Noah guided me into the back seat of the car. I leaned heavily against the leather seat, silently watching the neon lights smear across the window.
The alcohol dulled my thoughts, yet somehow made the yearning inside me spiral completely out of control.
When we returned to the villa, I stared at the house that once held every memory of us. At last, I broke. Sliding down beside the car door until I hit the ground, I whispered hoarsely, “I miss her.”
I remembered her cooking for me in that kitchen. I remembered the tear-filled yet stubborn look in her eyes when I pinned her against the sofa and kissed her like I wanted to consume her whole. I remembered the trembling sounds she made beneath me, the electric shiver that ran through me whenever her nails dragged down my back.
Every corner of that house still carried traces of her, tormenting me until I felt like I was losing my mind.
“Alpha, you’re drunk. You need to rest.” Noah sighed as he tried to pull me up. “What’s the door code? I’ll get you inside.”
Sitting on the steps with my head buried against my knees, I muttered, “E, L, 0712.” My initial. Hers. And her birthday.
I hadn’t changed it in three years.
Some foolish part of me always believed that one day she would come back, type in those numbers, and walk through that door again.
But outside, there was only the bitter night wind.
“Noah.” I lifted my head, my bloodshot eyes fixed on him as drunken madness took over. “Tell me… if I threaten to kill myself, would she come back?”
Noah stiffened, unable to answer.
