Chapter 628:
The mere thought of another man touching her was unbearable. Finally, frustration overtook me.
I shut my eyes and released a slow breath that sounded dangerously close to defeat.
“If staying beside me only brings her suffering… if I can’t be her source of happiness, then I want her to find peace somewhere else.”
Lianne’s POV
I had been busy all day, and by the end of the day, my ears were sore from holding the phone to my ear for so long.
I spent hours reaching out to several respected lawyers, doing everything I could to move my father’s murder investigation forward.
But it was way harder than I’d expected.
Every lawyer seemed very interested at first. However, the moment they learned the defendant was Rola of Thorn Pack, they all found reasons to withdraw.
My heart was heavy. I could not stop wondering if justice truly existed in this world.

When it was evening, I pushed those troubling thoughts aside and headed into the kitchen to keep myself busy.
Tracy’s pregnancy had left her emotionally drained lately, and she had been sleeping much more than usual. I didn’t want to wake her, so I decided to make a few light, comforting dishes that might improve her mood and appetite once she got up.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
I wiped my hands with a towel and walked to the door. When I looked at the video intercom, I saw Frank standing outside.
“What are you doing here?” I asked in surprise as I opened the door.
Frank wore a charcoal-gray cashmere sweater, looking calm and gentle.
He raised his phone and sighed, “I called you several times, but you never picked up. I was afraid something had happened to you or Tracy, so I drove over to make sure you were both okay.”
I checked my phone and saw missed calls from about ten minutes ago.
However, I never imagined he would come all the way here just because I hadn’t answered for a few minutes.
Frank entered the living room. He kept a proper distance, never crossing any boundaries or saying anything inappropriate. Everything he talked about centered on Tracy. He was worried that she was still hurting because of Jeremy and his illegitimate child.
“Lianne, you’ve had your hands full: your father’s case and looking after Tracy. You’re carrying too much on your shoulders,” Frank said when he noticed how exhausted I looked. “From now on, let me take care of your meals. I’ll cook, then leave. Okay?”
His kindness tugged at my heartstrings, but I shook my head. “Frank, there’s really no need. First, I don’t want to keep bothering you. You have your own life to deal with. Second…”
My voice trailed off as I deliberately avoided meeting his eyes.
I couldn’t bring myself to tell him that Tracy was getting ready to have an abortion.
When Frank saw that I wasn’t going to change my mind, he didn’t argue. He walked into the kitchen, rolled up his sleeves, and started helping me.
