Chapter 415:
“I’m going to make lunch. You two can get to know each other,” Ethan stated in a flat voice, the words trailing behind him as he disappeared into the kitchen.
Lianne’s POV
The way Ethan walked out without hesitation left me standing there, unable to move.
Was he intentionally giving Silas and me privacy, or had he truly lowered his defenses around me?
The second he heard Ethan disappear into the kitchen, Silas sprang off the couch and rushed over.
But instead of hugging me, he flicked a cautious glance toward the kitchen doorway before leaning close to my ear. “Mommy, relax. Every camera in this place is disabled. I already broke into the system.”
Relief loosened the knot in my chest. I grabbed onto his shoulders at once, panic spilling from me. “Did he do anything to you? How did he even get you here? We can leave immediately!”
Silas shook his head calmly, far too composed for a child his age. “He’s trying to figure out what kind of connection we have. If we run now, he’ll send the entire Thorn Pack searching for us. The whole city will be sealed off before we get far.”
I looked at his face, so painfully similar to Ethan’s, and my heart ached.

“Then what are we supposed to do?”
“We play along,” Silas answered, a sly spark flashing in his eyes. “I’ll pretend I hate you. If he thinks bringing you here caused trouble, he’ll stop letting you near me. That’s the safest way to protect your identity.”
I agreed instantly. Right now, it was our only choice.
Still, while watching him skillfully typing away on the computer, Ethan’s earlier words echoed through my mind. He had said, “My son.” The thought left a bitter ache inside me.
“Silas…” I hesitated before speaking carefully. “How have things been between you and him?”
Silas stiffened briefly, then rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. “Honestly… he hasn’t been bad. His food tastes amazing. Way better than Frank’s. He’s also been teaching me advanced coding techniques. He even brought me to the mountain training grounds to watch the pack members fight…”
His voice gradually faded until he finally lowered his head. “Mommy… I don’t really want revenge against him anymore. I know he hurt you, but… he’s incredible too.”
My chest tightened heavily. Blood ties were terrifying.
Silas carried Alpha blood in his veins. His instinctive admiration for strength was naturally pulling him toward Ethan.
He needed someone powerful to guide him, and nobody fit that place better than Ethan.
But I could never risk it.
The moment Ethan learned Silas was truly his son, he would never let him go.
He would shape Silas into the next Alpha while I, I would either spend the rest of my life locked away somewhere dark and forgotten, or disappear entirely.
“Silas, listen carefully.” I clasped his hand tightly, unable to steady my shaking voice. “No matter what he does for you, never trust him completely.”
“I understand, Mommy,” Silas said with a nod.
Right then, footsteps sounded from the kitchen.
