Chapter 245:
His long, strong hands gripped my wrists firmly, unyielding, yet without aggression. Ignoring my flinch, he lifted me into his arms with calm authority. “Your knee is bleeding. I’ll take you to have it treated.”
I was carried to a discreet black sedan, the vehicle immaculate and silent.
The interior smelled faintly of cool mint, a stark contrast to Ethan’s overpowering, woody scent that still lingered in my memory.
Adrian shrugged off his suit jacket and draped it over my shoulders, the fabric warm and protective. I murmured a soft thank you, and he acknowledged it with a small, casual nod before starting the engine.
My phone vibrated violently in my pocket, yanking me from the moment. I fumbled to pull it out and saw a video from Tracy.

My hands trembled as I tapped play. The footage revealed the private room at the Pearl Club just moments ago.
Ethan was on the couch, Nancy leaning toward him with a piece of cake poised at his lips. The crowd whistled and cheered around them.
The video ended just before their mouths met.
It felt like my heart had been wrenched from my chest.
Tears poured down, heavy and hot, streaking across the backs of my hands.
The passionate promises from last night now felt like a cruel joke.
What had Ethan believed me to be?
A pregnant woman he could toy with? A mere plaything for his amusement?
I clenched my fists in silent fury, vowing never again to place trust in a single word he had spoken.
Lianne’s POV
Adrian offered me a fresh handkerchief.
I dabbed at my face without much care, then shoved it into my pocket.
The car rolled forward and eventually entered a quiet private estate.
As soon as we stepped inside, an elderly maid approached. She froze for a moment, then spoke in surprise. “Cici? You’ve come back?”
Caught off guard, I quickly shook my head. “You’ve got the wrong person. I’m Lianne.”
The maid gave an embarrassed smile and explained that I resembled someone she used to know.
Adrian remained silent and guided me straight into his study, where he carefully cleaned the cuts on my knees and elbows with practiced ease.
“Take the ointment with you and apply it twice daily,” he said, sliding the ointment toward me. His eyes revealed nothing.
My gaze drifted to the clock on the wall. Seeing how late it was, I told him I wanted to head home.
Adrian didn’t try to stop me. Instead, he personally drove me back to the cold, lifeless villa.
“Thank you, Adrian,” I said earnestly before stepping out of the car.
Lowering the window, he rested one hand on the steering wheel and spoke with quiet intent. “Lianne, don’t let yourself end up in such a miserable state again. We’ll see each other again soon enough.”
I didn’t think too much about what he meant. I pushed the door open and stepped out.
As the glow of Adrian’s taillights faded into the darkness, I turned toward the villa, only for a sudden chill to crawl up my spine.
