Chapter 461:
I was beyond caring. Throwing all my pride to the wind, I crawled back to Frank and desperately grabbed the hem of his shirt. “We don’t have time for that… Frank, what if the witches can’t save him? What if he wakes up and I’m not there? I have to go now… take me to the Nersard Isles…”
Panic consumed me, like an invisible hand wrapped tightly around my heart, making every breath a struggle.
I was terrified that if I closed my eyes, Ethan would disappear from my life forever.
But in the end, my body betrayed me.
The relentless rain, the silver poison still flowing through my veins, and the countless days of physical and emotional exhaustion had pushed me far beyond my limit.

“Please, help me…”
Before I could finish speaking, darkness swallowed everything.
The commotion around me and Frank’s panicked shouts faded away in an instant.
I felt like I was plunging into a frozen abyss, sinking deeper and deeper as consciousness slipped away.
The first things I noticed upon regaining consciousness were a blinding white glow and the sharp, heavy scent of antiseptic.
It felt as though I had just emerged from a nightmare that had lasted a lifetime.
In the dream, Ethan had been standing on an altar drenched in blood, surrounded by a fierce snowstorm, silently mouthing his farewell to me. No matter how frantically I ran, I couldn’t reach him. I couldn’t even brush the hem of his coat.
“This is ridiculous! How could you allow her to remain outside in the rain all night when she’s in such a state?”
A harsh, elderly voice, thick with clear anger, reached my ears.
The voice was unmistakably that of the pack’s most senior healer.
I struggled to open my eyes, and my blurred vision eventually settled on Frank, slumped in a nearby chair.
His head hung low, his fingers tangled in his hair, and every part of him radiated helplessness and guilt.
“She refused to leave… I couldn’t stop her,” Frank said hoarsely, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Couldn’t stop her? Then you should have tried harder!” the healer snapped, slamming his palm against the table. His expression darkened further. “Her wolf retreated into a deep slumber because of severe injuries. Without her healing abilities, and after hours of rainwater soaking her wounds, they all became infected and started festering. She’s had a high fever for thirty straight hours. This isn’t a simple cold, it’s a serious infection that could develop into ichoremia.”
I lay motionless in the hospital bed, my body feeling impossibly dense and heavy.
Every inch of my skin and every single wound pulsed with a low, persistent ache.
“The most concerning issue is her left leg,” the healer continued, lowering his voice, though the words struck me like a thunderbolt. “The residual silver poison combined with the severe infection has created a critical situation. If the antibiotics fail over the next few days and organ failure sets in, she won’t survive. And even if she does, that leg will be completely ruined. She’ll never stand again. Even if her wolf awakens, she won’t be able to run like the others.”
My leg would be completely ruined…
A bitter laugh escaped me, but even that tiny movement sent pain coursing through my body.
