Chapter 128:
He went still, and a trace of alarm flashed through those eyes of his that were usually impossible to read.
He must have assumed I was planning to make our relationship public.
“A picture of me?” He arched a brow, his voice turning deeper.
“Yes.” I purposely dropped my gaze and made up an excuse he would have no way to reject. “Gavin kept asking me whether I had a boyfriend. He even said he wanted to pursue me. I’m worried he won’t give up, so I want to use a photo to make him stop bothering me. Don’t worry, I won’t show your face. I won’t bring you any trouble.”
I knew Ethan wanted to keep our relationship hidden because of what he felt for Ivy.
And just as expected, the moment he heard that Gavin wanted to pursue me, the atmosphere around him turned icy.

Ethan’s Alpha possessiveness made it impossible for him to accept another man wanting his mate, even if she was someone he intended to cast aside.
“Alright.” He agreed at once, his voice tight with suppressed anger.
“Then, let’s take a more intimate photo so it looks convincing.” I said it without hesitation, gesturing toward the bed behind us. “Hold me, and I’ll take a selfie. Just show your jawline, collarbone, and one side of your chest. That way, people can tell it’s a man, but they won’t know it’s you.”
Ethan looked at me for a few seconds. His Adam’s apple moved before he gave a small nod. “Let’s do it on the bed.”
We sat side by side against the headboard.
He stretched out his long arm and pulled me into his arms with quiet dominance, his warmth seeping through the thin fabric and wrapping me in that familiar scent.
I lifted my phone, found the right angle, and took several shots.
To make it seem more real, he even drew me closer, holding me so tightly I was nearly pressed against his chest.
The crisp sound of the shutter clicked several times in the still room.
I picked the one I liked best.
In the photo, my head was tipped slightly back against his shoulder, while his long-fingered hand rested just below my collarbone in an ambiguously intimate pose.
“Done.” I slipped out of his arms and gave my phone a little shake. “I won’t post it today. I’ll wait until we get back so our colleagues don’t start making unnecessary guesses.”
After saying that, I ignored the change in his expression and hurried out of the room with my phone in hand.
As soon as I returned to my bedroom, I pulled up Ivy’s social media.
The post she had uploaded at dawn, quietly showing off that Ethan had been with her, was already gone.
A mocking laugh slipped out of me. Taking it down changed nothing. I would make her suffer for every vile thing she had done to me.
I hadn’t taken that photo for Gavin in the first place. I had taken it for Ivy.
