Chapter 276:
The man let out a smug sneer. “Cut the crap! I know my land is exactly where the resort’s main entrance is supposed to be. If I stay put, your entire project stops right here.”
My eyes turned cold at once. How did he know this location had been designated as the entrance? The plans were supposed to be confidential.
I smiled, my tone light and unbothered. “If that’s what you believe, then someone has probably fed you the wrong information. If you knew the company was prepared to alter the plans and shift the entrance to the west in the event that no agreement could be reached, you wouldn’t be saying that now.”
The man’s swagger faded immediately, and uncertainty began to flash in his eyes.
I said nothing further and turned to walk away.
This tactic of retreat was the last move I had left.
Once I got back into the car, I called the manager, Alex Griffin, without delay. “Alex, I think the blueprints were leaked. The holdout knows exactly where the main entrance was meant to be. Yeah, please start a full investigation.”
The moment the call ended, my phone screen lit up with a video call from my daughter, Ruby Riley.
The instant that lovable little face appeared on the screen, all the tension in my body melted away.
“Mommy!” Ruby’s sweet voice chimed out, her wide eyes sparkling with excitement. “When are you coming home? I miss you.”

“I’ll be home once I finish work. You have to be a good girl…”
I was softly coaxing my daughter when, all at once, the measured sound of footsteps came from outside the car window, along with a voice so familiar it made my soul shudder.
“The Alpha said that if Nexith Group can’t even deal with this small problem, he may reconsider his investment. We don’t have time to keep wasting it here.”
It was Noah’s voice.
I went rigid, as if a bolt of lightning had struck me, while cold sweat instantly drenched my back.
Noah was here.
Did that mean the man he called Alpha, the man I had spent three full years hiding from, had come here too?
I fixed my eyes on the rearview mirror, forgetting entirely to hang up the video call with Ruby.
Lianne’s POV:
“Mommy!”
Ruby’s voice snapped me back from the brink of suffocation like a splash of freezing water.
My fingers shook as I hurriedly ended the video call and hastily rolled up the car window.
The glass slid shut with a soft click, cutting off most of the noise outside.
My heart slammed against my chest so hard it felt ready to burst.
I fixed my eyes on the rearview mirror, watching Noah pass my car while speaking on the phone. His tailored suit and severe profile were no different from the way they had looked three years earlier.
I clutched the steering wheel so hard that the veins rose sharply across the backs of my hands.
