Chapter 951:
Ethan’s POV:
The following morning, my phone vibrated beside me. Melisa had sent a message.
I opened it and read through the contents.
She had intentionally mentioned that she had given Lianne the antidote, clearly hoping to make herself appear trustworthy. She also proposed that we meet so we could discuss what should happen next.

Once I finished reading, I placed the phone facedown without sending a response.
I wanted her to wait.
A short while later, someone knocked on my office door.
Noah stepped inside, a faintly troubled look crossing his face. “Alpha, Miss Davis is downstairs. She said she was supposed to meet with you.”
I didn’t bother looking up from the paperwork spread across my desk. “Let her wait. I’ll see her around noon.”
Noah hesitated. “Noon? That’s still another two hours…”
“Then she can wait that long,” I cut him off. “If she came here to see me, she can afford to be patient.”
Noah nodded, but instead of leaving, he remained near the doorway. His expression suggested there was something else bothering him.
I finally raised my eyes. “What else?”
“Nothing,” he said after a brief pause. “I only wanted to make sure you’re certain about meeting her. If she notices something unusual, she might become suspicious.”
“Refusing to see her would make her even more suspicious.” I settled farther into my chair, remaining composed. “Noah, I need you to handle something.”
“Of course. What is it?”
“Keep the performance going. I need everyone convinced that Lianne and I are finished for good. Melisa most of all. She cannot realize that we’re back together. Is that clear?”
Noah held my gaze for a moment before giving a firm nod. “Understood, Alpha.”
He turned around and quietly pulled the door shut behind him.
I leaned against the backrest and shifted my attention toward the monitor.
The surveillance footage from the lobby was displayed across the screen. Melisa sat in the reception area, a coffee resting between her hands. Every so often, she checked her phone, clearly waiting for me to answer her message.
Then Noah entered the camera’s view.
He approached Melisa with an expression that had been carefully arranged to convey just enough exhaustion and frustration.
Melisa looked up and offered him a pleasant smile. “Noah, is Ethan still occupied?”
Noah sat down opposite her. After releasing a heavy sigh, he spoke in a subdued voice that carried through the surveillance audio. “Miss Davis, you’ve actually come at the perfect time. I’ve been wanting to talk to someone about everything I’ve been keeping to myself.”
Melisa’s brows lifted. She placed her cup on the table and studied him curiously. “Oh? Is something wrong with Ethan? You look like something’s troubling you.”
