Chapter 634:
“Hello, Lianne.” Jeremy’s voice was low, but cheerful. “I finally patched things up with Tracy last night. She only just fell asleep, and her phone is with me. I’ll tell her to return your call as soon as she wakes up.”
Something in the way he spoke didn’t sit right with me. I frowned and said, “Jeremy, put Tracy on the phone. I need to speak with her.”
“Are you sure?” he asked in a playful tone. “She’s asleep, completely exhausted.”
I hesitated before changing my mind. Now that the misunderstanding about the illegitimate child had been cleared up, and with their baby growing inside Tracy, it made sense for them to get back together.
With a powerful Alpha like Jeremy protecting her, she would no longer have to worry about her safety or material needs.
“Jeremy, I don’t care what happened between the two of you last night, but there’s something I need to say.” I took a deep breath and added firmly, “You have to settle everything with your ex-girlfriend once and for all. I won’t allow my best friend to get hurt again because of that unfinished business. Tracy is sensitive, and by choosing to trust you again, she’s risking everything.”
“I know, Lianne. This time, I owe both you… and Ethan a lot,” Jeremy said sincerely. “I’ll take good care of Tracy and protect her with everything I’ve got. I won’t let her shed a tear ever again.”
Hearing his promise, I finally let out a sigh of relief.
With my father’s case weighing so heavily on me, I had been carrying more than I could handle. Now that Tracy’s issues were finally sorted, at least one weight had been lifted from my shoulders.
I cautioned, “I hope both of you can be honest with each other and work everything out. Don’t make her regret giving you another chance…”
While I was speaking, a dull thud echoed through the phone.

Jeremy said in a hurry, “I have to go. Something came up. We’ll talk later.”
He then hung up. I stared at the phone in my hand with a frown.
The sudden change in Jeremy’s tone left me with an uneasy feeling I couldn’t explain. But he was the father of Tracy’s child. I tried to dismiss the thought. He wouldn’t do anything to hurt her, would he?
I checked out of the hotel and walked outside. I wanted to go to Tracy’s apartment to pick up some documents. Just as I was about to call a cab, an unfamiliar number flashed on my phone screen.
Lianne’s POV
I picked up the call with a frown.
A woman’s voice came through the line. “Hello. Am I speaking with Miss Lianne Riley? This is Bastion Law Firm.”
My fingers tightened around the phone.
Bastion Law Firm was one of the most respected firms around. People said they only served royal families and the Alphas.
“Yes, this is Lianne,” I answered, holding my breath.
“Our senior partner has reviewed the initial information about your father’s case. We are willing to represent you and provide full legal support. If you’re available today, we would like to meet and discuss everything in person.”
