Chapter 477:
Silence filled the room.
Ethan’s fingers tightened around mine. He didn’t deny it. He smiled bitterly, then answered, “Lianne, if it was something you wanted to keep hidden, then I was willing to pretend I knew nothing. As long as you stayed by my side, I could accept your lies forever. I never wanted to force it out of you. I only wanted to wait until you were ready to tell me yourself.”
His words hit me straight in the heart.
I had always believed I was in control. I thought I had hidden the truth perfectly.
But I was wrong. This proud and powerful man had quietly lowered himself all this time, carefully protecting my fragile pride and respecting every decision I made.
My eyes burned with tears. Unable to face him any longer, I turned my head away, afraid I would completely lose control and burst into tears in front of him.
“I… I’ll get a towel and help you clean up.”

With that, I awkwardly stood and made my way toward the bathroom to prepare a warm towel.
As I came out of the bathroom, Tracy suddenly crossed my mind. Realizing I hadn’t seen her in quite some time, I asked worriedly, “Where’s Tracy? I was worried she wouldn’t be able to handle things by herself.”
“Don’t worry,” Ethan said gently, his eyes following my every movement with warmth. “Jeremy is with her. Though he’s injured, he’s very good at taking care of people.”
“Jeremy?” I asked in surprise.
Ethan nodded and motioned for me to call him.
The call connected immediately. Jeremy’s voice sounded both helpless and dutiful from the other end. “Ethan, you’re finally awake! If you hadn’t woken up soon, Tracy would’ve completely exhausted me! That woman is so annoying. She even stood there watching me while I changed my bandages…”
Hearing the familiar bickering and lively noise through the phone, I felt the anxiety in my heart ease.
After the call ended, I returned to Ethan’s bedside and carefully wiped his arms with the warm towel.
“About Jeremy’s head injury…” I asked, recalling the thick bandages wrapped around his head. “What happened?”
Ethan’s face grew serious, his tone turning cold. “He was caught in a staged car accident while trying to warn me about Ivy’s schemes. Ivy has gone completely insane. She’s determined to get rid of anyone capable of helping me.”
My hand paused for a moment, and I let out a quiet sigh. “In the end, all of Ivy’s twisted obsession only repaid Jeremy’s years of devotion with betrayal.”
“Oh?” Ethan immediately caught the subtle emotion in my words. A playful smile appeared on his face. “Are you jealous of Ivy?”
“Of course not!” My cheeks turned red. I quickly denied it, looking embarrassed and flustered. “I just think Jeremy doesn’t deserve to be treated like that.”
“And what about me?” Ethan’s voice dropped into a flirty whisper. “Do you think I deserve it?”
