Chapter 202:
Nothing. Not a single reply.
I knocked again, harder this time. The silence remained unbroken.
I knew she wasn’t asleep.
As a werewolf, I could hear the faint, uneven rhythm of her breathing from the other side of the door.
She was shutting me out.
I stood there for a moment, then turned and went downstairs to look for the spare key.
But I searched through every drawer in the study and the living room, and it was nowhere to be found.
Standing alone in the middle of the empty living room, I understood at last.

She had done it deliberately.
She had hidden the key, locked the door, and closed me out of her world completely.
I went back upstairs and stepped into the guest bedroom next door.
Lying on the narrow bed, I finally had to face it, a gulf had opened between Lianne and me.
The door to her heart had shut.
And for the first time in a long while, I was terrified.
Lianne’s POV:
The following morning, I woke and spent a long while steadying myself before finally heading downstairs for breakfast.
“Ma’am, you’re up.” Noticing me descend, a maid hurried over, her expression slightly tense as she lowered her voice. “Alpha stayed in the guest room last night. He didn’t look well when he left. Even so, he told me to prepare something nourishing for you.”
My hand stilled around the glass of water, a faint, bitter irony rising within me.
Like dressing poison in sweetness, he played this role far too effortlessly.
“I see,” I replied in an even tone, devoid of any warmth.
I took a seat at the table, scrolling through my phone, and noticed the backlash against me had noticeably eased today. Ethan must have had people handle it.
I suspected it was done more for Ivy’s sake than mine, though.
I barely touched my food before leaving for the office.
The moment I stepped into my office, my work phone began vibrating relentlessly. It was an unfamiliar local number.
Assuming it was something urgent from a business contact, I answered without hesitation.
“Hello, this is Lianne Riley.”
“You shameless whore! Enjoying yourself seducing the Alpha?” The harsh, grating insults hit me all at once. “You look like nothing but trouble, and everything you do behind closed doors is disgusting. Why don’t you just drop dead? You’re meddling in Ivy’s relationship, and someone like you should be cast out of the pack and torn to pieces!”
I stood there, frozen, my thoughts going completely blank.
“Hello? Why aren’t you talking? Too scared now? A worthless home-wrecker like you should rot in hell.”
I cut the call off in a rush, my heartbeat racing, my palms damp with cold sweat.
Before I could gather myself, another call came in, then another right after.
Soon, the message alerts began chiming nonstop, sharp and relentless like a tolling bell.
“So you’ll do anything to climb your way up? And you think you’re worthy of the Alpha?”
