Chapter 619:
Tracy’s voice sharpened immediately, wounded anger spilling free. “Cruel? What about what he’s done to me? He talked nonstop about our future together, about building a family with me. Then suddenly, I’m expected to accept a child he never mentioned and become a mother overnight. Why am I the one who has to sacrifice? Why should I carry the burden for his mistakes?”
I had no answer for her.
She wasn’t wrong. When love leaves someone bleeding, nobody gets to demand grace from the injured person.
Once more, she tightened her grip around my hand, desperation flickering in her eyes. “Promise me you’ll stay quiet, Lianne… especially around Ethan. Jeremy is his friend. Ethan would side with him immediately.”
Lianne’s POV
The moment Ethan was mentioned, a sharp heaviness settled inside my chest.
I looked down quietly before answering, “You can relax. Ethan already returned to his family. We’re not together anymore.”

For a brief second, Tracy stood speechless, worry dimming her features. “What if he sides with Rola against you? Especially since you still possess all that proof.”
A tired breath slipped past my lips as I gave a small shake of my head. “Don’t worry, he won’t do that. He’s sacrificed enough for my sake already. He even turned against his own family because of me. I hold nothing against him. Honestly.”
By the time our conversation ended, the vehicle had reached Tracy’s apartment building.
The place sat tucked away in a quiet corner, surrounded by quiet streets and peaceful scenery. For me, it felt like the safest place imaginable.
After stepping out, I tried to hand Tracy money for staying there, but she instantly refused.
“Seriously? You’re going to start acting formal with me now? Are you trying to annoy me to death, or should I march straight into surgery today just to spite you?” she scoffed, folding her arms.
Her carefree attitude sounded convincing, yet the color drained from her lips betrayed everything she was trying to hide.
That fearless act was nothing more than armor. She kept forcing herself upright with sarcasm and stubborn pride, using fake confidence to stop herself from completely collapsing.
I moved closer, rested a hand gently on her shoulder, then wrapped my arms around her.
“You don’t need to keep pretending around me. Whatever choice you make, I won’t leave your side. During the next three days, you’re not facing anything alone,” I said softly.
The rigidity in Tracy’s body slowly melted away as she leaned against me.
A shaky exhale escaped her before she whispered in a trembling voice, “Thanks, Lianne… right now, you’re the only person who truly cares what happens to me.”
Ethan’s POV
I made my way back to the pack house.
Far away from the city’s endless scheming and blinding lights, the land stretched into dense ancient woodland and glassy lakes untouched by noise. The breeze carried the scent of rain-soaked soil mixed with pine, the familiar wilderness every werewolf instinctively recognized as home.
Across the lawn, several young pups chased and wrestled one another, their high-pitched laughter echoing through the peaceful grounds.
Ruby and Silas had returned with me.
As the two children wandered around the courtyard with wide-eyed curiosity, their cheerful voices breathed life into a place that had felt lifeless for far too long. Somewhere deep inside me, something worn and fragile stirred faintly.
