Chapter 707:
“Lianne,” I whispered, my voice rough and unsteady. “Do you regret obtaining that surveillance footage? Or do you regret ever meeting me?”
She stood frozen, clearly stunned by the unexpected question.
“I do.” I let out a bitter smile and answered for her. “I regret meeting you, because I realized I was indirectly responsible for dragging you into this nightmare and for your father’s death. If you had never met me, your life could have been peaceful. You—”
Before I could finish speaking, a warm body threw itself into my arms.
Lianne wrapped her arms tightly around me, as though she wanted to lend me every ounce of her strength.
“I’ve never regretted meeting you, Ethan.” She rested against my chest, her voice unwavering. “You’re the one who showed me a kind of love I’d never known before and treasured me more than anyone ever had. None of this pain was your fault. It was simply fate’s cruelty.”
She raised her head, her eyes glowing with quiet determination. “Ethan, step away from this. I’ll see this trial through to the end, and I’ll face everything that comes afterward by myself. Even if it means standing against your family, I’m ready. But I don’t want to see you caught in the middle.”
Bitterness swelled inside me as I cradled the back of her head and held her tightly against me.
“Then your promise to give me an answer after the trial, is it still valid?” I asked softly, sounding more like a prisoner awaiting sentencing than an Alpha.

“It is,” she answered without hesitation.
I nodded, but deep inside, I understood one thing better than anyone else. I would never truly leave her to face this alone.
Lianne’s POV:
I had no idea what kind of confrontation Ethan had just gone through, nor did I expect Philip to go around him and contact me directly.
“Come to the resort entrance alone. Don’t tell Ethan.”
Though the message was short, the authority behind it was impossible to ignore.
My first instinct was to refuse, but then I remembered that Philip was the most influential elder in Thorn Pack. If I avoided him, he would only place even more pressure on Ethan.
Not wanting Ethan trapped in the middle, I threw on a light jacket and quietly slipped out while he was busy with a video conference.
The night was pitch-black, and the black SUV waiting at the resort entrance resembled a predator lurking in the darkness.
I had met Philip once before, during the ceremony where Ethan and I formed our bond. At that time, he had carried himself with dignity and authority.
Now, however, he looked noticeably thinner, with deeply sunken eyes. It was obvious that Rola’s case had exhausted him completely.
“Ms. Riley, it’s been quite some time,” he said bluntly, his voice carrying a cold edge. “Do you still remember the agreement you made with Adrian? You promised to stay away from Ethan and give up the children. You’ve broken that agreement.”
