Chapter 478:
His question instantly threw my mind into chaos. As I continued wiping him down, the warm towel brushed across his toned abdomen, and my hand accidentally touched something long and hard.
A jolt shot through me. I gasped and yanked my hand away as though I’d been scalded.
“I… I didn’t do that on purpose!”
Completely embarrassed, I rolled my wheelchair backward. The wheels let out a sharp squeal against the floor.
Without daring to look at him again, I quickly turned around, muttered something about washing the towel, and escaped into the bathroom at top speed.

Behind me, Ethan’s low laughter rang out softly, echoing through the silent room.
Resting against the cold tiled wall, I pressed a hand to my chest and listened to my racing heartbeat. No matter how hard I tried, the burning heat in my face simply refused to fade.
Ethan’s POV:
The knock at the door instantly drew Lianne’s attention.
She emerged from the bathroom.
Her delicate face had turned crimson, the blush spreading down her slender neck in an alluring shade of pink.
Nervously, she fiddled with the hem of her already-tidy clothes, keeping her head lowered as she steered her wheelchair toward the door.
The moment the door opened, Tracy’s lively voice and Jeremy’s heavy, measured footsteps filled the room.
“Lianne, why is your face all flushed?” Tracy’s sharp eyes quickly picked up on something odd. She reached over to feel Lianne’s forehead and asked with concern, “Have you been pushing yourself too hard lately? Is your old condition flaring up and causing a fever? I’ve told you, Thiynia is freezing. How are you supposed to cope with this kind of cold with your health already like this…”
“Um, no, it’s nothing. I just… spilled some hot water on myself while washing up earlier.” Lianne’s voice was hurried and unsteady. Her gaze darted around the room, avoiding mine, as if even a single glance my way would give her away entirely.
To anyone else, her flustered, shy behavior might have looked like the symptoms of illness.
But to me, it was an irresistible kind of charm.
Leaning back against the headboard, I felt a possessiveness that had long been buried suddenly surge to life.
Jeremy, familiar with situations like this, let his eyes briefly pass over me before settling on Lianne, who looked as though she wished the ground would swallow her whole. Understanding immediately flashed through his weary eyes.
He caught Tracy’s arm to stop her questioning. “That’s enough,” he said quietly. “The doctor said the patient needs quiet. Stop making such a fuss.”
Completely unaware of the underlying situation, Tracy turned to me with a triumphant expression and lifted her chin proudly, as if waiting for recognition. “You’re finally awake! I gave Jeremy a piece of my mind for Lianne while you were unconscious. If he ever sides with that crazy woman again, I’ll be the first one to protest.”
Jeremy let out a bitter chuckle and limped over to my bedside.
The bandages were still wrapped around his head, and exhaustion seemed to seep from every part of him.
