Chapter 131:
I went completely still, my mind stalling for a full three seconds before I understood what he meant.
I jerked my head up to look at him, only to see him talking with the others like nothing had happened.
That shameless comment wiped out all my gloom and lingering uncertainty in an instant. Burning with embarrassment and annoyance, I glared at him and sent back a bomb emoji.
The game went on, and the bottle pointed to Ethan again. This time, he picked “Dare.”
“Carry the fifth girl to your left on your back and do twenty squats!”

Everyone started counting. The fifth person was me.
Ethan didn’t pause for even a second. He got to his feet and came straight over to me.
“Just go with it,” he whispered. Then, without giving me any chance to agree, he slipped one arm around my waist and the other beneath my knees and lifted me with ease.
It was a standard bridal carry.
My body was pressed tightly against his chest. Even through the thin fabric between us, I could feel the heat of his body and the steady, forceful pounding of his heart.
The scent of sandalwood wrapped around me, leaving my mind completely blank.
Then he started squatting.
Each time he moved up and down, my body brushed against his, and the friction sent a rush through me.
The muscles in his arms were drawn tight, packed with seemingly endless strength. Even after all twenty squats, his breathing was still perfectly steady. If anything, the effort only made his Alpha aura feel even more overpowering.
When he finally put me down, his fingertips brushed the tender skin of my inner thigh, and a jolt ran through me.
The game didn’t end until four in the morning.
When I got back to my room, I dropped onto the bed, worn out. My phone lit up. It was another message from Ethan. “Want to go soak in the hot springs? They’re just behind the hill.”
My heart jumped, but I kept my expression cold as I typed back, “No. I’m tired.”
Even though what happened earlier had eased some of my bad mood, that didn’t mean I had forgiven him for embarrassing me.
Sleep wouldn’t come, so I idly flipped through my phone as usual, and that was when I saw Ivy’s name trending online.
It was a segment from her latest variety show.
In the footage, Ivy was dressed in a refined gown, displaying her skills for the camera.
“I actually speak four languages,” she said to the guests with a smile. “I’m particularly fond of German.”
Then she told a short story in German, her voice so soft it was almost overly sweet.
The instant I heard that voice, my heart dropped. It was unbearably familiar.
That was exactly how Ethan had sounded on all those sleepless nights, holding me in his arms and whispering a story by my ear.
He had once told me it was a story his grandmother taught him, and that he only told it to the person dearest to him.
