Chapter 535:
After a long pause, Tracy finally spoke, her voice shaking slightly. “Lianne, are you absolutely sure about this? You know I’ll stand by whatever decision you make, but have you thought about Frank? Do you realize how much he’s sacrificed for those kids over the years? He’s canceled countless plans just to spend time with them. To him, Ruby and Silas aren’t any different from his own children. If you take them away so suddenly, it’s going to break his heart.”
The words hit me hard, leaving my heart heavy.
I slowly closed my eyes. In my mind, I pictured Frank laughing as he ran across the lawn with the children, their small hands clasped tightly in his.
“I know, Tracy. Nobody understands that better than I do.” My throat tightened, but I forced myself to stay firm. “I know how much he’s done for them. But Ivy is still out there. We haven’t dealt with her yet, and there’s no telling when she might come back. On top of that, Rola has started looking for a new mate for Ethan. I can’t keep allowing Ethan to stand against the entire pack for my sake. In a few days, everything between me and the Voss family will finally come to an end. Before that happens, I need to make sure the children are somewhere safe.”

“I know, Lianne. I get it. I’ll handle it. Let me talk to Frank so you don’t have to be the one to hurt him,” Tracy said with a weary sigh.
“I’m sorry, Tracy. I just… couldn’t bring myself to face Frank.” In the end, I selfishly pushed the responsibility onto her because I didn’t have the courage to do it myself.
I knew Frank would accept whatever I decided, and that kindness only deepened the guilt weighing on my heart.
“What choice do I have? You’re my best friend,” Tracy said helplessly. Then she asked with concern, “Do you think the pack members might bully the kids? They’ve never lived there before.”
“Ethan will protect them,” I answered without hesitation. I believed that completely.
For the children’s future and for their safety and stability, returning to the Thorn Pack was the most sensible decision. Truthfully, it was the only option.
The morning we were scheduled to bring the children back, I got up early and began packing our things.
The hospital room felt unbearably tense.
Melisa stepped into the room in her spotless white coat with a stack of final test reports in her hand.
The moment she noticed Ethan fully dressed and prepared to leave, her expression darkened with disapproval.
“Alpha, as your attending physician, I need to say this again. Your injuries haven’t fully healed. A long flight and physical strain could easily reopen the wounds. I strongly advise you not to leave the hospital yet.”
Ethan sat calmly on the edge of the bed while I fastened the buttons of his shirt. His expression remained unchanged, as though Melisa’s warning had never reached his ears.
“Ethan!” A sharp, authoritative voice suddenly rang out from the doorway, carrying unmistakable anger.
Rola stormed into the room with a few attendants following behind her. Her face was red with fury.
