Chapter 533:
“Absolutely none.” The smile disappeared from my face as I answered without hesitation. “I’ve already said this before. Jeremy has never been the type to commit to one woman. He’s had countless relationships over the years. Tracy, on the other hand, takes relationships seriously. She’s honest, straightforward, and doesn’t play emotional games. Maybe Jeremy finds her interesting right now because she’s different from the women he’s dated before. Maybe the novelty is what attracts him. But I’m not willing to risk Tracy’s happiness on a possibility. I can’t place my trust in the hope that Jeremy will suddenly change, become responsible, and give her the stable future she deserves.”
Lianne’s POV:
I took my phone back and carefully typed a reply to Tracy. “Your blind date seems handsome and easygoing. You should go meet him. Don’t leave yourself with regrets. Good luck, babe.”
Seeing her excited emoji made me feel a little better, but the bitterness still lingered.
Tracy deserved someone sincere, someone who shared her hopes for a simple and stable future.
As long as she was willing to take a chance and move forward, whether the relationship succeeded or failed, perhaps the guilt I felt toward her would finally lessen.
It was late at night, and the hospital room was lit only by a small lamp on the wall.
I stared at the message Tracy had just sent me: “Date’s canceled. No longer in the mood.”
A frown slowly formed on my face. Something about it felt wrong.
Tracy was the type who loved excitement and new experiences. There was no way she would suddenly give up the opportunity to meet an attractive man unless something unexpected had happened.
Could it be that someone had interfered with her date?

And the first person that came to mind was Jeremy.
I turned my head and looked at Ethan, who was leaning against the headboard with a contract in his hands.
“Did your meeting end already?” I asked softly.
Ethan lifted his eyes to meet mine. His gaze softened, but instead of answering, he stretched out an arm, held my waist, and effortlessly pulled me onto his lap.
“Be careful! Your wound!” I exclaimed, immediately trying to move away.
But he cupped the back of my head, pressing me close to his chest. “Stay still. I want to hold you for a while.” His voice was low and slightly hoarse, carrying the fatigue of a long day. “Tell me what you’re thinking.”
“Did you tell Jeremy that Tracy had a blind date?” I searched his face carefully, looking for even the slightest hint of guilt.
“No,” he replied immediately. At the same time, his fingertips brushed lightly across my waist, making me shiver. “Jeremy isn’t foolish enough to rely on me for information. Once he sets his sights on someone, he’s more than capable of finding out whatever he wants on his own.”
I couldn’t stop myself from complaining, “I really don’t think they’re a good match. Jeremy has dated far too many women, and his love life is a complete disaster. Tracy is innocent and takes relationships seriously. I’m worried he’ll toy with her feelings, and when he loses interest, she’ll be left heartbroken.”
Ethan laughed softly. The sound rumbled through his chest and sent a small thrill through me.
