Chapter 259:
Then I pushed myself up from the couch and faced him with cold, unwavering resolve.
“I need to see Ivy. Now. This instant.”
Lianne’s POV
“Get a hold of yourself. Lianne, don’t do anything foolish!” Ethan’s hands closed hard around my shoulders, his tone strained with barely restrained irritation.
“Foolish? You think I’m the one being foolish?” I pushed myself upright in one sharp motion and looked straight at him, my eyes burning. “That was Harold! The person who loved me more than anyone else in this world! He lost his life because of Ivy, and you expect me to stay here and rest? I have to see her. I need to ask her whether she has any heart at all!”
When he remained in place, his face still clouded and grim, the last bit of sense inside me broke apart completely. I shoved past him, staggered to my feet, and charged for the door.
Even if he refused to help me, I would turn the whole city upside down until I found the woman who killed Harold.
“Stop right there!” Ethan moved in front of me within seconds, standing there like a solid wall that could not be forced aside.

“Get out of my way!” I screamed.
“I already had Ivy taken away, but she went missing a few days ago!” Ethan locked his hand around my wrist with brutal force. “I’ve already sent people out to search for her, but nothing has come back so far. If you go out now, what can you do except make yourself suffer even more? Go back upstairs. Once I find her, I’ll bring you to her.”
“Nothing has come back? Really?” I threw my head back and let out a laugh while tears ran wildly down my face, harsh and hollow. “Ethan, what exactly are you? You’re the Alpha of the Thorn Pack! On your own ground, you can’t track down a weak, defenseless woman? You’re obviously shielding her! You’re scared I’ll get to her and make her pay, aren’t you?”
I did not believe him. Not even for a moment.
“Lianne, calm down!” He yanked me into his arms, trying to quiet me with his embrace.
But the woody scent I had once longed for now sickened me like venom.
I fought him with everything I had, my fists crashing against his chest while I cursed at him through broken breaths, “You’re completely blinded by her! You don’t even care that Harold died. Let me go! You’re just as guilty as she is!”
Ethan’s face sank into a terrifying darkness. He pinned my wrists down without mercy, lifted me straight into his arms without saying a single word, and headed upstairs with long strides.
“Put me down! Ethan, you bastard! You coldhearted asshole!”
I could not get loose, trembling all over with fury, and sank my teeth into his neck with all the force I had.
