Chapter 400:
His eyes were calm, almost as though he could see straight through the heart of everything. “Whether it’s despicable or not is for others to decide. But for you, if it brings her back, does anything else really matter?”
I said nothing. Yet the hesitation lingering inside me slowly faded with his words.
Maybe Noah was right. Maybe nothing else mattered. I had to do that to get her.
I had waited for three years. I had searched for three years. She had left a hollow ache in my heart that I never wanted to feel again.
If being honorable meant losing her again, then I would rather be a despicable villain.
“You’re right,” I said as I continued to walk. My gaze regained its usual sharpness and resolve.
Lianne’s POV
“Lianne, have you lost your mind? You can’t go! Absolutely not. You cannot return to Voss Group!” Frank’s furious voice echoed through the small living room, his normally warm expression twisted with anger.
His hands gripped my shoulders protectively, as if he were afraid I would walk straight into danger the moment he let go.
A wave of helplessness washed over me. I gently removed his hands and spoke in a weary voice. “Frank, calm down. Do you think I want to return? I’m being forced into it because of my contract. Ethan is insane. The breach penalty alone is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and he even expects me to compensate for the projected losses of the Brinewick project. There’s no way I can pay that. I truly can’t.”
“I’ll figure out the money!” Frank interrupted immediately, his eyes firm with determination. “I’ll use the pack’s emergency funds if I have to. If that isn’t enough, then I’ll borrow it or beg. I’ll even take this to court. I refuse to believe the Thorn Pack can be this unreasonable and get away with it!”

My eyes burned with tears as I looked at him, but I could only force a bitter smile and slowly shake my head.
“It’s pointless, Frank. We’re standing on Thorn Pack territory. Ethan controls everything here. The law, the connections, the power. If he wants to keep me with him, that debt will become the chain he uses to drag me back no matter where I run.”
Frank started pacing the room anxiously, slamming one fist into his open palm.
“Lianne, I’m not afraid you’ll get back together with him,” he suddenly said, stopping to look at me with worry filling his eyes. “I’m worried about Ivy. That woman is still involved in all of this. Whatever happened between her and Ethan clearly isn’t over. And those old men in the Thorn Pack would sacrifice anything just to preserve their precious bloodline. If you go back now, you’re walking straight into danger. I don’t even dare think about what they might do to you.”
The moment he finished speaking, he strode toward the door. “No. I’m going to see him right now. I’ll tell him you belong to me now. He has no right to control your freedom!”
