Chapter 795:
After an agonizing thirty minutes, the doctor finally emerged, his expression solemn. “Alpha, Miss Riley’s condition is very unusual. It appears to be neurological paralysis caused by acute poisoning. However, we’ve conducted a full toxicology screening, and there are no traces of any known toxin in her blood. At this point… we have no idea how to treat it.”
No toxins in her blood?
I was already stretched to my limit, barely holding myself together, when a nurse suddenly rushed out and told me Lianne had regained consciousness.
I stormed into the emergency room immediately. When I reached her, I grabbed her cold hand.
Her eyes were open, but there was a terrifying emptiness in them.

“Lianne, tell me. What did you eat or drink today?” I asked urgently, desperately searching for anything that might give me a clue.
She stared at me blankly for a long moment before slowly shaking her head, her voice so weak it was barely audible. “I don’t remember… Ethan, I’m so tired. Take me home, okay? I don’t want to stay here.”
Her fragile, pleading eyes instantly shattered the last of my resolve.
Ignoring the doctors’ objections, I tore the monitoring leads from her hand, lifted her into my arms, and carried her out of the hospital.
During the drive home, she rested weakly against my chest, her fingertips unconsciously brushing over the buttons of my suit.
“Ethan…” she whispered softly. “I want to live. I want to live long enough to watch you grow old.”
My heart hurt so badly. I held her even tighter, burying my face in her neck as I promised, “You will. We’ll find a cure for you, no matter what it takes.”
An entire day passed, and there was still no improvement in her condition.
Lianne began slipping in and out of consciousness. When she was clear-minded, she could manage a few words. But whenever the confusion took over, she couldn’t even recognize who I was.
Watching her condition worsen at such an alarming rate, my face turned grim.
I stepped onto the balcony and dialed a number I hadn’t called in a very long time.
“What did you do to her?” I demanded the moment the call connected, not bothering with a greeting.
“Ethan, what on earth are you talking about?” Rola’s voice was as arrogant and cold as ever. “For the sake of a woman, you actually dare to question your own grandmother? Do you have no concern for the Thorn Pack? No respect for me?”
“She’s the only thing I care about!” I shouted into the phone, the veins at my temples standing out. “Someone entered my home secretly, with both the motive and the ability to hurt her without leaving a trace. Other than you, I can’t think of anyone else. Rola, I’m warning you for the last time.”
Ethan’s POV
Every syllable left my mouth with deliberate precision, carrying a threat that promised ruin for everyone involved. “If Lianne dies, the Thorn Pack goes down with her. The authority you treasure, the position you’ve spent years protecting, every last bit of it will vanish. None of you will escape the consequences.”
With that, I ended the call.
I shoved the bedroom door open. A lone lamp mounted on the wall cast a weak glow across the room.
