Chapter 347:
Watching him quietly eat at the table, I finally felt the weight in my chest ease completely.
So that was all it was. A kind stranger helping someone in trouble. Nothing more.
I let out a quiet laugh at myself before taking a sip of water.
This was better. No Ethan. No unresolved feelings. No painful past resurfacing again. Just an ordinary act of kindness on an otherwise ordinary night in Queen District.
Ethan’s POV
I sat silently in the backseat of the Bentley, the atmosphere inside the car unbearably heavy. Aside from the faint sound of Lianne and Jon’s conversation flowing through the earpiece, no one spoke. I was listening to everything.
Through the specially customized one-way tinted windows, I spotted Brian downstairs leaning casually against his car with a cigarette between his fingers.
From time to time, he lifted his gaze toward the restaurant’s second floor. The glow of his cigarette flickered in the darkness, but it couldn’t conceal the anticipation and impatience in his eyes. He was obviously waiting for Lianne.
The realization stirred an inexplicable irritation deep within me.

Three years ago, I had convinced myself that leaving her was the only way she could live peacefully. Yet now, it seemed the “wolves” surrounding her had never truly disappeared.
Not long after, Brian appeared to notice the Bentley parked nearby. He extinguished his cigarette and strode directly toward my car before knocking lightly against the window.
Noah lowered the car window slightly. Brian immediately put on a practiced smile that felt more calculated than genuine as he politely asked to borrow a lighter. But his true intention was obvious; he was probing for information, trying to figure out who was inside the luxury vehicle.
He even casually introduced himself, pretending to be curious about meeting the owner of the car.
Noah instinctively glanced at me through the rearview mirror. I shook my head slightly, signaling him to refuse.
“My apologies. My boss is resting and isn’t available to meet anyone right now,” Noah answered courteously but firmly.
Brian had just turned to leave when I abruptly changed my mind. I pushed open the car door and stepped out.
Hearing the movement, Brian turned around, visibly startled for a brief second. Perhaps he had never expected to encounter the Alpha of the Thorn Pack on the streets of a foreign district.
“You’re Brian Perez,” I said calmly as I stopped in front of him. My voice carried no emotion, yet the authority within it was impossible to ignore.
“It’s an honor to meet you,” he replied, extending his hand for a handshake.
I didn’t even glance at his hand.
The fact that I hadn’t already punched him was the greatest restraint I could manage for Lianne’s sake.
Sensing the coldness radiating from me, Brian deliberately emphasized his relationship with Lianne, almost as if showing off. “I brought Lianne here tonight for her meeting,” he said. “She’s just too kindhearted. She insisted on treating that driver to dinner, so I’m waiting here to take her safely back to the hotel afterward.”
