Chapter 464:
Clinging to the last thread of hope I had left, I whispered, “Tracy… help me. I can’t lose the only lead I have on Ethan…”
Tracy went still. Her sobs stopped. She looked at me with swollen eyes, hurt and disappointment trembling in her voice. “Lianne, all you can think about is Ethan. Have you even thought about Ruby? Since she was rescued, she’s barely left her blankets. She’s terrified all the time. Every night she wakes up crying for her mother. She keeps saying bad people are coming to take her away. She’s just a child, Lianne. She’s already suffered more than she should. And now, when she needs you most, you’re ready to throw your life away chasing a man whose situation nobody even knows.”
Ruby. The name struck me with brutal force.
I could almost hear her frightened cries. Almost see her tear-filled eyes. A sharp ache spread through my chest until breathing became difficult.
But no matter how hard I tried, the image of Ethan collapsing in a pool of blood refused to leave me.
“My phone…” I couldn’t meet Tracy’s eyes. “Please give me my phone.”
After a brief pause, Frank finally handed it over.
The screen lit up immediately. Dozens of missed calls and messages appeared.

Every one of them was from Brian, the man who had once promised me a future and then betrayed me.
Ignoring every notification from him, I quickly dialed the number I knew by heart. Noah’s.
The ringing seemed endless. Finally, the call connected.
“Hello.” Noah’s voice came through, distant and detached.
“Noah… it’s me.” I tightened my grip on the phone. “Please, I need to know. How is Ethan? Where did they take him? I just need to know whether he’s alive.”
The silence that followed felt suffocating.
“Lianne, I shouldn’t even be talking to you.” Noah exhaled heavily. “I already went against the elders once by helping you. The Thorn Pack is under strict lockdown now. Anything related to the Alpha is classified information. I’ve been ordered to cut all ties with you.”
“Noah, please…”
“If I hear anything, I’ll let you know. Stop calling.”
The line went dead.
I stared at the dark screen in my hand. The final piece of hope I had been holding onto shattered.
“He won’t tell me…” The words barely left my lips.
Without thinking, I reached to call again.
“Enough!” Frank grabbed the phone from my hand and threw it onto the nearby table. “Stop forcing people into impossible situations, and stop destroying yourself in the process!” His voice echoed through the room. “Lianne, it’s time to let this go!”
Lianne’s POV:
“No, I can’t!” I felt like a cornered, wounded animal, pushed past all reason as I threw off the blanket and fought to get out of bed.
The wound on my left leg, freshly stitched and already inflamed from infection, tore open under the sudden strain.
Warm blood immediately soaked through the layers of gauze. Agonizing pain ripped through me like molten fire, blurring my vision and making the room sway.
