Chapter 620:
Adrian had already positioned himself outside, waiting for us.
Though his expression stayed unreadable, his eyes shifted the instant he noticed the children. A strange emotion crossed his face before he stepped closer, lifting his arms slightly as he intended to pick Silas up.
Silas immediately recoiled. He grabbed Ruby’s hand tightly and hid behind me, clutching my pant leg with stubborn determination.
“They don’t warm up to unfamiliar people easily,” I said evenly while stepping between Adrian and the children.
I understood my own offspring well. They had inherited the same instinctive caution I carried. If someone felt wrong to them, I would never pressure them to trust that person simply because of shared blood.
“Where is Rola?” I asked directly.
Adrian slowly lowered his hand and released a weary sigh. “She’s holed up in her room, seething with anger. Ethan, how could you do that! You handed Ivy over to Lianne without even speaking to Rola first.”

I immediately saw through it. Rola wasn’t angry because I acted independently. She was terrified. Terrified that Ivy, whom she had treated like a disposable tool, might expose every ugly secret capable of destroying her reputation.
“She’s frightened. She’s afraid Ivy will say anything to save herself. That woman is unstable enough to invent lies just to tear this family apart,” Adrian continued carefully, trying to justify her behavior.
My attention drifted toward the damp grass glistening beneath my shoes. A faint smile touched my mouth, cold enough to freeze the air. “Lies or truth… deep down, you already know the answer better than anyone, Adrian.”
For an instant, his composure cracked before he hardened his expression again. “Ethan, stop placing your faith in Lianne! You’re the Alpha of the Thorn Pack. A woman shouldn’t come before your own grandmother.”
I lifted my eyes toward him, a dangerous chill flashing through them. “The man Rola murdered was Lianne’s father. He was family, and Rola never should have touched him.”
I studied Adrian carefully, that same familiar face forever preaching sacrifice for the good of the pack, and all I felt was disgust.
There was no way he knew nothing. He had personally handled the negotiation with Lianne. Pretending ignorance had simply become second nature to him whenever power was involved.
“So you brought your children here just to challenge Rola?” Adrian asked quietly, though the warning beneath his words was obvious.
“Of course not.” I squared my shoulders, speaking with firm certainty. “I returned because this place belongs to them too. As for Rola, I won’t shield her from consequences. If she’s blameless, she can defend herself with evidence.”
Adrian frowned deeply. “So you’ll really watch her face trial before the Pack Council without stepping in?”
“She deserves it,” I answered without emotion.
Realizing intimidation wouldn’t sway me, Adrian quickly changed tactics. “To be fair… Ivy was truly the one orchestrating everything. Rola wasn’t directly involved. She simply chose not to interfere.”
“Do you actually believe that?” I asked quietly, fixing him with an unrelenting stare.

Message from Noa: Have a beautiful day lovely readers. God loves you and Noa wishes you all the best. (ɔO‿=)ɔ ♥
Did you know that the life you’re living today is the result of whether or not you’ve guarded your heart?
God gives us this counsel in His Word: Above all else, guard your heart, for it sets the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23)
Why should I guard my heart? And what would I need to guard it from? God has given us a heart worth taking care of—a heart that has to be guarded from the things that pull us away from Him and from His truth. If the heart is what sets the course of my life, am I going to let it steer me while it’s clouded with anger and resentment? With guilt and fear? With envy and comparison? With deception and false hope?
Guard your heart. Keep it in Jesus Christ, and He will keep your life.
