Chapter 745:
“I hope you have a happy marriage,” I said softly before turning to leave.
Jane chuckled, teasing me for sounding far too serious.
I didn’t explain myself. Instead, I followed her back into the private room.
As soon as the door opened, I noticed Tracy and Jeremy visibly relax. It wasn’t until they saw that Jane and I were getting along just fine that the tense atmosphere in the room eased.

The day before the court hearing, the weather suddenly turned bitterly cold as the temperature dropped.
I went to the cemetery alone, bringing no flowers and no gifts. I didn’t say a single word. I simply stood in front of my father’s grave, quietly looking at the black-and-white photograph engraved on the headstone.
From sunrise until nightfall, I never moved. I stood there like a lifeless statue. Even when my legs went stiff and completely numb, I couldn’t feel a thing.
Behind me, soft footsteps echoed, and dry leaves crunched underfoot. I didn’t have to look back. I already knew who it was.
“Tracy has been calling you nonstop. She’s worried sick,” Frank said from behind me. “I figured I’d find you here.”
After standing in silence for so long, my throat had gone dry and sore. When I answered, my voice came out hoarse. “My phone is on silent. I didn’t want it ringing and disturbing my moment with my father.”
“Lianne, come home with me. You need to get some rest. Tomorrow won’t be easy.” He stepped forward and reached out to hold me.
Without thinking, I moved aside, putting a clear distance between us.
His hand stopped in midair. He quickly explained, “Jane doesn’t know I’m here, and she wouldn’t misunderstand even if she did.”
I slowly shook my head, my eyes never leaving the gravestone. “That’s exactly why we shouldn’t be here alone together. Frank, it wouldn’t be fair to Jane.”
“I’ve always treated you like a sister!” he said, unable to hide the urgency in his voice.
“But other people won’t see it that way,” I replied quietly, turning to face him. My eyes were calm, yet empty. “Frank, treasure Jane. She’s a good woman. Don’t wait until you’ve lost her to realize what she meant to you. As for me… I know what I want. I can take responsibility for my own life. You don’t have to keep looking after me.”
The evening wind swept through the cemetery, gently stirring my hair. Frank stayed behind me in silence for a while.
“Lianne… I’m sorry,” he finally said bitterly. “Holding onto you all these years must have caused you so much trouble.”
I looked at the warm smile in my father’s photograph and gently shook my head. “Frank, you’re a good man. You deserve a peaceful, happy life. Don’t waste any more time chasing something that can never happen.”
“I’ve decided to spend some time getting to know Jane, and then I’ll propose to her.” His expression was complicated as he looked at me. “When that day comes… will you be there?”
