Chapter 584:
“Stay still.” His tone dropped dangerously low, thick with restraint. “Lianne, I’ve been sick for nearly a week, and I’ve spent every day holding myself back. Then I saw you asleep out there, wearing barely anything. Do you have any idea how hard it was to focus on a single thing during that meeting?”
Before I could answer, he had already lowered me onto the mattress.
There was nothing gentle about the way he moved this time. He acted like someone desperate, almost frantic, as though he needed reassurance that I was truly his.
His mouth claimed mine fiercely enough to leave me breathless.
“Wait… your injury…” I tried to stop him, but he trapped both my wrists above my head effortlessly.
“It’s fine now. Check yourself if you doubt me,” he whispered against my skin, his voice husky and tempting.
His lips trailed lower, each kiss leaving me dizzy.
That night, it was like every fear and frustration he’d bottled up finally erupted all at once.

I felt completely unraveled, clinging to him because I could barely think straight anymore.
Annoyed and overwhelmed, I bit his shoulder hard, hoping it would make him slow down.
Instead, it only pushed him further. Something raw flashed through him, and his pace became even rougher, almost punishing in its intensity.
“Say it… say my name…” he growled near my ear.
Tears slipped down my cheeks while I repeated his name again and again until my throat turned raw.
The exhausting night left me so drained that I slept through the entire following day.
When I finally opened my eyes, every inch of me ached horribly. Even moving my fingers felt like too much effort.
My phone vibrated beside my pillow. Reaching for it sluggishly, I answered the call and immediately winced at the sound of my own voice.
“Hello…” I croaked.
“Well, sounds like someone had a very busy night.” Tracy burst into laughter from the other end. “Lianne, your voice is destroyed. Did Ethan completely wear you out? That man seriously has too much energy.”
Heat rushed to my face. I cleared my throat awkwardly, though it didn’t help at all. Finally giving up, I buried my face into the pillow. “Tracy, don’t start. He’s unbelievable.”
“Then maybe you should figure out how to keep him under control.”
“Oh, really? And have you ever managed to stop Jeremy once he gets clingy?” I shot back immediately.
The line went quiet for a second before Tracy let out a helpless sigh. “Okay, fair enough.”
She hadn’t called only to joke around.
After some light conversation, her mood shifted, uncertainty creeping into her voice.
Jeremy had proposed to her recently.
“He’s been trying so hard. He cleared out his schedule just to stay with me. Honestly… I think I’m beginning to fall for him,” she admitted softly.
Then she hesitated again. “But sometimes, I wonder if we can actually make it work. Our beginning was nothing more than a wild, passionate night, fragile, without foundation.”
