Chapter 388:
“If she finds out Silas threatens everything she has built…” My fingers curled into trembling fists. “She’ll kill him. She won’t think twice about it!”
Lianne’s POV
Just thinking of Ivy’s schemes from three years ago made my breathing turn uneven. That woman had looked at me like she wanted to tear me apart limb from limb.
Ethan might hesitate, maybe even show Silas mercy because of blood, but Ivy would never do the same.
“Silas knows exactly what he’s doing,” Frank said quietly, breaking into my thoughts. His voice softened as he continued. “He’s far smarter than you think. He’s been in contact with me. He said he has his own plan. After he finishes what he wants, after his ‘revenge,’ he’ll reach out again. Then we meet him at the border, just like we agreed.”
My voice rose instantly. “Revenge? He’s three years old, what revenge can he possibly take?”
My thoughts were spiraling. Everything I had planned, everything carefully arranged, was collapsing. I had only wanted to return quietly, reclaim what belonged to me, and disappear with my kids before anyone could drag us into the past again.
But now Silas had become Ethan’s bargaining chip, and I had been reduced to nothing more than a coward hiding in the shadows.
I had even considered going straight to Ivy.
I knew what terrified her. I knew the secrets she couldn’t afford to have exposed. More importantly, I was no longer the same helpless, wolf-less Lianne who had once been at everyone else’s mercy.

Three years had honed my ability to conceal my scent and to strike when the moment came. If Ivy dared to touch a single hair on Silas’s head, I vowed she would answer for it.
“Don’t do anything rash, Lianne.” Frank appeared to read my mind. Concern flooded his eyes. “If you go to her now, you’ll only drive her to desperate measures. She still hasn’t confirmed Silas’s identity. The second you reveal yourself, you’ll be handing her the weapon with your own hands.”
“So I’m just supposed to sit here and wait?” I asked, my voice dripping with bitterness. Tears threatened to fall, but I stubbornly held back. “Watch my son face danger in that hellish place while I sit on my hands?”
I stared at my reflection in the mirror. My face was gaunt, my eyes bloodshot. The torment of the past few days had nearly pushed me over the edge.
Frank walked over and gave my shoulder a gentle pat, his voice calm and resolute. “Trust me. I’ll take care of everything. Right now, you need to go back to work, act normal, and avoid raising Ethan’s suspicion. Don’t forget that Ruby is still waiting for you. She hasn’t seen you all day, and she’ll be frightened.”
At the mention of Ruby, my heart twisted painfully.
I had almost forgotten. I still had a daughter.
If something happened to me, what would become of Ruby?
