Chapter 568:
Lianne lifted her uninjured hand and gently touched my cheek. Something flickered across her eyes, an emotion so complex that I couldn’t fully understand it. “I never blamed you, Ethan. You were dealing with your own troubles back then.”
She paused for a moment. Then she tilted her head slightly and looked straight into my eyes.
She asked a question that made my heart skip a beat: “Ethan, if one day… Rola and I reach a point where neither of us can compromise, who would you choose?”
Rola was my grandmother. She was also the guardian of the Thorn Pack.
And Lianne… she meant everything to me.
I saw the deep unease and probing in her eyes, and without a moment’s hesitation, I leaned down and kissed her.
There was no passion in the kiss. Only certainty. A firm promise.
“I will never allow anyone to hurt you,” I whispered. My voice was steady and unwavering. “Not even a little. Even if that person is my grandmother. Even if I have to leave behind everything I’ve had. Lianne, you’re my Luna. You’re the one person I will never compromise on.”
Lianne’s POV
Ethan’s words touched me. However, despite the warmth his words brought me, a question lingered in my mind. When reality truly stood before him, would he still choose me with no hesitation?
The following morning, I woke at sunrise.

The space beside me was empty. Ethan had already left.
He had accepted my decision and agreed to allow me to visit my father’s grave alone.
The cemetery stood in the middle of the quiet countryside, surrounded by endless stretches of greenery.
A bouquet of brightly colored flowers rested in my arms as I walked along the path. Dry leaves crackled beneath my feet, their faint sound echoing through the silence.
As I drew closer to my father’s grave, something immediately caught my attention. A bouquet was already lying before the headstone. Fresh white lilies.
Tiny droplets of dew still clung to their petals, making it obvious they had been placed there only recently.
A spark of anger flared inside me.
I had told Ethan repeatedly that I wanted to come by myself. I had made it perfectly clear that I didn’t want anyone following me or interrupting this visit. And yet he had come anyway, ignoring my wishes once again.
Clutching my bouquet tighter, I strode forward, intending to remove the lilies. Just then, a familiar voice broke the silence.
“You’re here.”
My steps halted instantly. Every muscle in my body tensed. I turned around sharply.
Standing beneath the shade of a nearby tree was not Ethan. It was Frank.
Lianne’s POV
Frank stood nearby in a fitted dark overcoat, a drenched white cloth hanging from one hand. Damp strands of hair had fallen across his forehead, giving him the appearance of someone who had spent hours doing exhausting work.
I glanced around and suddenly noticed something startling. Out of every grave in the cemetery, only my father’s resting place looked immaculate. Not a single weed surrounded it, and every carved letter on the headstone had been polished clean with painstaking attention.
