Chapter 95:
“Let go of her.” Ethan had come back without me noticing. He stood there with no expression on his face, his eyes cold and frightening.
Frightened by the crushing Alpha aura coming off Ethan, Leo turned pale and hurried off.
Without sparing that idiot another glance, Ethan came over, took my hand, and said in a quiet voice, “Let’s go home.”
I nodded and got up obediently to follow him out of the dance hall.
The cool air of the night felt refreshing and cleared my head.
“Leo’s trouble,” Ethan said in a grave tone as we walked. “His family has a terrible reputation in the pack. Keep your distance from him and don’t get involved with him.”

The wary look on his face made me want to laugh, so I teased him. “I thought he was pretty handsome, and he was rather interesting to talk to…”
Ethan stopped short, his expression turning dark.
He turned around and boxed me in against the wall, one arm on each side of me, leaving me trapped between his body and the wall.
“Lianne, I’m serious.” His tone was completely solemn. “You can’t always see what people really intend. You’re the kind who draws the wrong sort of attention more easily.”
Realizing he was truly upset, I nodded at once. “I understand. I’ll be more careful from now on.”
Ethan looked at me, something complicated shifting through his eyes.
He lifted a hand, stroked my cheek gently, and let out a sigh. “From now on, if I’m not by your side to protect you, you have to stay on guard.”
My heart lurched at those words.
When we got to the parking lot, Ethan opened the passenger-side door for me. After I sat down, he walked around to the driver’s side.
Silence filled the car, broken only by the sound of our breathing.
“Lianne.” He suddenly said my name.
I had just buckled my seatbelt and looked up without thinking.
He was looking straight at me, his eyes deep and impossible to read.
He leaned in slowly, his warm breath brushing my face and carrying a suffocating sense of pressure.
I forgot to breathe, my heart hammering in my chest. As his face came closer and closer, I started to shake, my lashes trembling as my eyes slowly fell shut.
I was waiting for that kiss. The one that would tell me he still loved me, that he still wanted me.
Lianne’s POV
Ethan kissed me.
Inside the car, the air seemed to catch fire, and our uneven breathing made it feel as though all the oxygen was running out.
Ethan’s scent crashed over me like burning magma, pressing me hard against the passenger seat.
His broad hand moved with unmistakable force, gliding along the lines of my dress. The warmth of his palm bled through the thin material, sending tremors skittering across my body.
“Ethan…” A fractured moan slipped from my lips as my restraint hovered on the verge of breaking.
I lifted my hands and braced them against his firm chest. “Not here.”
