Chapter 98:
I halted, my voice icy. “Other than Ethan, there’s nothing for us to talk about. And if it’s about him, I don’t want to hear a word.”
“Is that so? But this concerns you too.”
I knew Ivy had nothing good in mind, yet my feet refused to move.
She edged toward me bit by bit, then bent near my ear and murmured, “Did you really believe that car crash was simply an accident? I’ll tell you what actually happened. The two men are my most obsessive fans. They couldn’t stand seeing me treated unfairly, and they couldn’t stand you pestering Ethan, so they decided to teach you a lesson.”
“I’m pestering Ethan?” I looked at her in disbelief. “Ivy, are you insane? Ethan and I are fated mates. You’re the one inserting yourself into our relationship!”
“And?” Ivy threw her head back with a loud laugh. “You only know how to act strong when you’re facing me. Why don’t you see what the media and the people online have been saying? To them, I’m the one Ethan truly loves, and you’re just a malicious woman. What, you had no idea? Well, your dear husband has been very ‘considerate’ these last few days and kept your phone away from you.”
My heart lurched hard.
Ethan had taken my phone, and he had only just given it back not long ago.
I pressed my hands tight, my nails sinking into my palms. My fingers shook as I dug through my bag for my phone, only to realize I had been logged out of my social media account.

Because of that, I hadn’t gotten any recent messages, and with everything that had happened, I hadn’t found the time to check social media at all.
At first, I didn’t want to believe a word Ivy said, but in that moment, a sense of dread began to creep into my chest.
The instant the screen lit up, an avalanche of notifications came pouring in.
I opened my social media, and the number of comments and messages was already staggering.
I tapped the latest post. It was a picture from a few days earlier, when Ethan and I had left the theater together.
The comments underneath were packed with remarks. Every single one was vicious and cruel.
“Is this the shameless woman hanging onto him? She’s not even that pretty, and she still dares to steal Ivy’s man!”
“She’s disgusting. Why doesn’t she just die?”
“A bitch like this deserves to get hit by a car!”
The comments were almost entirely hateful, and the earliest accusations had begun days ago.
A chill spread through my whole body, and my mind went utterly blank.
I was Ethan’s mate. I was the one who stayed with him when he was disabled. So why had I become the one everyone was attacking?
“These are just people piling on. As long as Ethan explains…” I forced myself to stay calm, but my voice shook without control.
