Chapter 106:
No one understood him better than I did.
He always knew how to keep things balanced in a way that worked for him, standing between Ivy and me without choosing either side.
The moment Ivy softened her tone or tried to pull him back, he would forget everything he had just shown me without a second thought.
No matter how much I lowered myself, I wouldn’t accept a mate who could be taken away whenever someone else called for him.
“So now you’re pushing me out?” Ethan’s voice turned colder.
Without thinking, I placed my hand against his chest and tried to force him back.
The instant my palm met the cool surface of his suit, his fingers wrapped tightly around my wrist.
That connection between us reacted right away, and the feeling twisted into something almost laughable.
Something deep within me responded to his presence, and my strength faded the closer he got.

With a slight shift of his weight, he pressed me down until I was trapped against the bed, unable to fight back.
“Lianne, don’t test me.” His gaze stayed fixed on me, giving nothing away.
The low sound of his voice made my body go still, as if all strength had been drained from it. I wanted to resist, yet I couldn’t bring myself to push him off.
Then, slowly, he lowered himself onto one knee in front of me and leaned closer.
Lianne’s POV
Ethan’s hand came to rest on my thigh. Even through the thin material of my dress, the heat of his touch felt nearly scalding.
He kept going, his fingers gliding along the tender inside of my thigh as they slowly worked higher, unhurried and intrusive.
A soft, shaky moan slipped out of me before I could stop it.
A light tremor passed through my body, and for a moment, my mind emptied out. That overwhelming pleasure spread from head to toe. I bit my lower lip on instinct, trying to hold back another humiliating moan.
I wanted to get away and shove him off me, but my body no longer seemed to belong to me, aching for his scent.
Ethan studied my face, a smile on his lips that was both ruthless and alluring.
His hand kept moving upward, close to lifting the hem of my dress.
“Stop.” My last shred of reason made me seize his wrist. “Ethan, we just had a fight. Do you really think this is enough to make it up to me? What do you think I am? Some toy you can summon when you want and throw aside when you’re done?”
My eyes filled with tears. My body reacted to him against my will, but inside, I was in agony. It was almost too much to bear.
Ethan looked at me, his eyes churning with emotions I couldn’t read.
He paused briefly, then slowly pulled his hand back and rose to his feet.
