Chapter 108:
I’d never been into bubble tea before and preferred coffee instead. But one night, Ethan came home late from a dinner and brought one back for me. He said it was popular and thought I might end up liking it.
That one warm cup left me secretly happy for a long time, lying in bed and wondering if he was finally beginning to learn how to love me.
From then on, I got used to the taste.
I waited twenty minutes before I finally got my regular bubble tea.

The moment I walked out of the shop, I collided with a woman covered up in disguise.
“Sorry,” I said, shifting aside to get past her.
“Lianne?” Her voice was deliberately hushed, but the hostility in it was unmistakable.
I stopped short and looked back.
She took off her sunglasses, revealing a delicate face wearing a smug, taunting expression. It was Ivy.
Her eyes fell to the bag in my hand, and she gave a low chuckle.
“What a coincidence. You drink bubble tea from this shop too?”
I frowned, having no desire to make a scene with her in public. “Go on ahead. I have things to do.”
“Regular bubble tea. Right?” Ivy spoke again, so certain that a chill ran straight through me.
I froze, then turned back to look at her with a cold stare. “What exactly are you trying to say?”
She moved closer and lowered her voice. “When Ethan and I were together, every time we had a fight, he’d stand here forever just to buy me this bubble tea. He said that if I drank it, it meant I was forgiving him. There was one time we fought badly. I threw the drink at him and told him to get lost.”
She paused, her smile turning smugger by the second. “Later, I heard he brought home the drink I threw away and gave it to you. I honestly didn’t think you’d still be drinking it now.”
All at once, my mind emptied as I stood there, unable to move.
So this was the truth.
What I had once cherished as a thoughtful surprise was nothing more than something Ivy had discarded.
I had believed it meant he was finally starting to care about me. In the end, it was only his way of passing off something he no longer wanted.
Staring at Ivy’s smug expression, I swallowed the sickness rising in my stomach and gave a cold laugh. “Is that so? Then I suppose we really do have something in common. Whether it’s bubble tea or a man, it makes no difference. Since you want Ethan that badly, you can have him. Keeping up the act of a shameless mistress all the time must be tiring, huh?”
Ivy’s face turned grim at once, her delicate features twisting slightly with anger.
I didn’t wait for her reply. With the paper bag still in hand, I straightened my back and walked out of the shop.
A green trash can sat by the roadside. I looked at the warm drink in my hand and found the whole thing absurd.
Without pausing for even a second, I lifted my hand and threw the bag into the trash.
