Chapter 137:
At that instant, all the jealousy and possessiveness I had been holding back the entire evening broke loose.
Driven by that sudden surge, I bent my head and crushed my lips against the ones that had been tormenting me all night.
The kiss was harsh, punishing, and feverish. I took the air from her mouth with greedy force, wanting to wipe away every trace of that other man’s scent from her.
I was supposed to be here for Ivy. Why had my eyes stayed fixed on Lianne instead?

Watching her grow close to Frank felt like being eaten alive by a swarm of venomous ants; the heart-wrenching agitation and wild possessiveness were almost enough to choke me.
Lianne shoved at my chest, her fists pounding against my shoulders.
But I couldn’t make myself let her go, and I held her even tighter until she was nearly out of breath before finally releasing her with a ragged exhale.
“Ethan, are you insane?” she snapped, glaring at me in fury, her body trembling faintly with anger.
A dark satisfaction overpowered the guilt in me.
A low laugh slipped from my throat as I circled my arms around her waist from behind, rested my chin on her shoulder, and brushed my fingertips teasingly over her swollen lips.
“This looks better,” I murmured. “Much better than that icy expression from before.”
“Let me go! Frank is waiting for me!” She struggled.
“Frank, Frank, always Frank.” The trace of amusement disappeared from my eyes, replaced by coldness. “I told you, the two of you don’t belong together. Are you going back just to keep acting all lovey-dovey with him? Lianne, don’t forget that you’re still my mate.”
“If we don’t belong together, then do you and Ivy?” she shot back, her eyes rimmed red. “What exactly are you doing right now? You came here for Ivy, and yet here you are bothering another woman?”
When I saw the tears shining in her eyes, my heart softened. The truth buried deepest in my heart slipped out almost on its own.
“Lianne, do you really think I came here to see Ivy?”
I tightened my arms and held her firmly against me. “The servants at the villa told me you were coming here today. Ivy was only an excuse I gave myself, an excuse to see you without raising suspicion.”
Lianne’s POV
“Ethan, stop wasting your time.” I looked at my messy reflection in the mirror and spoke in a voice stripped of all warmth. “Our mate bond will be over soon. Keep yourself and your mistress under control.”
Ethan had clearly never seen me this firm and detached before.
His eyes, usually heavy with the urge to control everything, widened a little, as though he wanted to speak, but I gave him no chance and walked straight out.
By the time I returned to my seat, my lips were still slightly swollen and tingling from the rough kiss earlier.
“Lianne, why did you take so long?” Frank leaned toward me, concern in his searching eyes.
