Chapter 200

Chapter 200:
I stood there, watching him turn and head back toward the car. I watched as the Rolls-Royce roared to life once more and vanished toward the garage exit.
I knew he was going back to the hospital.
All it took was a single call or message from Ivy, and he would leave me behind without hesitation, after everything I had just endured.
If that was the case, then why had he even bothered to pull me away earlier?
Was it meant to show me where his loyalties lay? Or simply to stage a display of devotion in front of those reporters?
I stepped into the elevator, my reflection staring back at me, pale, drained, and worn.
Not long after, my phone buzzed with a trending notification.
The clip showed what had just happened outside the hospital, the Rolls-Royce surrounded by reporters.

In the footage, Ethan had a woman held tightly in his arms. Her face wasn’t visible, but the way he shielded her was impossible to miss.
The comments section had already descended into complete chaos.
“So this is the woman hiding behind the scenes? Ivy’s in the hospital after trying to kill herself, and these two are flaunting their relationship right at the entrance?”
“Poor Ivy, having to suffer because of such a shameless pair.”
“Has the Alpha lost his mind over some scheming vixen? He won’t even give her a proper title, only sneaking around with her in secret.”
To the public, I was still nothing more than the intruder, the one who shattered a relationship and lingered in the shadows.
Public opinion burned like an uncontrollable blaze, growing fiercer with every passing moment.
Ethan’s POV:
Once I left Lianne behind, I drove straight into a remote stretch of forest.
At the edge of a clearing, I came to a stop, every muscle in my body trembling with strain.
The wolf inside me was tearing at its cage, desperate to break loose.
The revolting crack of bones snapping and reshaping split the silence of the night. My skin stretched to its limit and tore as coarse black fur burst through like sharpened steel spikes.
“Awooo!”
I flung back my head and let out a piercing howl, my body shifting into a gigantic black wolf as I bolted through the thick woods at full speed.
The wind thundered past my ears, and the scents of earth and leaves sharpened until they were a hundred times stronger.
This was the only moment when I could feel anything close to real freedom.
And in that instant, Lianne’s face rose in my mind without warning.
She had once been the fiercest fighter in the Pack Academy. Her wolf had blazed with brilliance.
But now, she had lost her wolf. She had become a fragile she-wolf, severed from the Moon Goddess’s call.
The thought of her trapped in this ruthless world, denied even the simplest freedom of releasing her instincts, made my heart seize hard. A bitter, piercing ache spread through my chest.
I must protect her.
That conviction settled in me more firmly than ever.
I ran until I reached a concealed cabin buried deep within the woods.
