Chapter 201:
After shifting back, I took the black robe the guard offered and draped it over my shoulders.
“Alpha.” The guard outside dropped to one knee, his face solemn.
I pushed the door open. A heavy metallic reek of blood struck me at once.
In the middle of the room, three men were bound to iron chairs with thick silver chains, their bodies drenched in blood.
Noah stood nearby, fresh smears of blood still marking his fingertips.

“They still haven’t talked?” I walked toward them, my voice cold enough to freeze the air.
“Stubborn trash,” Noah said with a sneer, a cruel gleam flashing in his eyes.
I stopped in front of the captives and looked down at them. “Who started the smear campaign online? Who took Ivy’s photos?”
They kept their heads lowered, their bodies shaking violently, but their mouths stayed locked shut.
“It seems you still don’t understand how serious this is.”
I gave Noah a slight nod.
In the blink of an eye, Noah’s fingers lengthened into razor-edged claws. With a wet, sickening rip, he slashed them across one man’s thigh.
“Ah!” A horrifying scream ripped through the cabin. Blood sprayed across the floorboards.
In our world, betrayal was answered in blood.
After being pushed to the edge by torture brutal enough to break a man, one of them finally cracked. “It was Jason Hughes. He was the one who sent us.”
Jason Hughes?
I narrowed my eyes, turning the name over in my mind as I searched for where I might have heard it before.
“Noah, find out everything there is to know about this Jason Hughes.” I turned away, my voice steeped in menace. “As for the three of them, don’t rush it. Keep them alive.”
Once outside, I stood in the bitter wind, trying to force down the murderous fury still boiling inside me.
I took out my phone and, almost without meaning to, called Lianne.
I wanted to tell her I would take care of the rumors, tell her she didn’t need to worry, and beg her not to look at me with that same cold distance again.
But she refused to answer.
A bitter smile tugged at the corner of my mouth. I slipped the phone back into my pocket and drove to the villa.
By the time I returned, it was already midnight.
The house was steeped in silence. The living room lay in complete darkness; the amber wall lamp she always left on for me no longer glowed.
The warmth that had become so familiar over the past three years was gone.
An empty, restless unease began to eat away at me.
I made my way upstairs through the dark and stopped outside the master bedroom.
Out of habit, I reached for the doorknob, but the moment I turned it, my face went still.
The door wouldn’t open. She had locked it from the inside.
I remained standing there, staring at the closed wooden door, a storm of tangled emotions rising in my chest.
I lifted my hand and knocked softly. “Lianne? Are you asleep?”
