Chapter 204:
Once, I might have believed him. But after being let down time and again, whatever hope I had left was long gone.
When he saw no reaction from me, something like panic flickered in his eyes. He tried to pull me into his arms.
But I wanted no part of his touch. I stepped away and avoided him completely.
“Don’t touch me.”
I knew he owed me an apology for all of this.

If he had trusted me even a little back at the studio, or in any of the misunderstandings that came before, I would never have been left exposed. I would never have been torn apart by strangers online.
But this apology had come too late.
Too late, because I had already learned how to endure my pain alone. Too late, because I had already made up my mind to leave for good.
“Alpha.” I lifted my head and met his eyes, choosing the coldest, most distant title I could. “If you’d said that sooner, maybe it would have meant something to me. But now? I don’t want anything from you.”
Ethan’s brow tightened, and a flicker of pain crossed his expression.
“My private affairs have caused serious harm and losses to the company. I accept full responsibility.” I took a slow breath and brought up the one subject he always hated hearing. “I want to resign. I’ll send you my resignation letter by email.”
“I already said no.” Ethan’s voice darkened, heavy with authority and impossible to argue with. “I’ll deal with Nancy, and the rumors will disappear. This was my mistake, and I’ll make it right. Stay at Voss Group. Don’t bring up resigning again.”
“I have to leave,” I said firmly.
My hand drifted unconsciously to my flat stomach.
The baby could not remain hidden forever.
Werewolf blood was powerful. As time passed, the scent of the pup growing inside me would only become stronger.
If I remained at the office, if I stayed anywhere near Ethan, the truth would come out sooner or later.
I couldn’t allow this child to become a tool for him to use. I couldn’t let my baby be born into a life built on deceit and betrayal.
Ethan looked at me, something unreadable shifting through his expression.
He probably thought I was still angry because of Ivy and Nancy.
“You’re exhausted, Lianne.” His tone softened, almost as though he were coaxing me. “Go home and rest for a few days. Let Bella take care of things here. We’ll talk again after you’ve had time to think.”
“I’m leaving.” I gave no answer to his proposal. I collected the documents from my desk and turned toward the door.
“Come back to the Voss estate on Saturday morning.” Ethan’s voice followed from behind me, a quiet reminder. “Don’t forget, it’s my grandmother’s birthday.”
I stopped, giving a slight nod without turning around. “I know. I haven’t forgotten.”
Rola had shown me genuine warmth. Of course I would be there for her birthday.
But this time, I wasn’t going only to celebrate.
