Chapter 216:
“I have lost my mind! You’re the one who drove me here!” he shouted, and then one of his hands slid abruptly beneath my clothes.
His rough palm met my chilled skin and moved upward before coming to rest over my lower abdomen, covering it completely.
The baby…
Terror washed through me all at once.
I was terrified he would notice. Terrified he would discover the truth. More than anything, terrified he would destroy this child with his own hands.
Ethan seemed to sense the tension that had seized me. In a hoarse murmur, he lowered his mouth to my ear and whispered, “Tell me… if you were carrying my baby, would you still be this determined to leave me?”
Lianne’s POV
The air between us had gone tight enough to break.
I lifted my chin, left with no choice but to meet the fierce blaze in Ethan’s eyes.
“Ethan,” I said, my voice calm to the point of coldness, “I asked you the same question before. Do you remember the answer you gave me then?”

He went still for a brief second, and something like panic flickered through his eyes before disappearing.
“So now, my answer to you is exactly the same as the one you gave me back then.” I watched his jaw lock hard, then enunciated every word with deliberate clarity. “There is no such thing as a ‘what if,’ and even if there were, I wouldn’t keep the child.”
Ethan’s breathing grew rough and uneven.
He stared at me without blinking, his eyes reddened, his hands trembling ever so slightly.
It looked as though he wanted to speak, his throat working sharply, but in the end, no words came out.
Then, without warning, he released me so abruptly that I nearly lost my balance.
He snatched his suit jacket up from the floor and strode out of the house without turning back once.
That night, he never returned.
The following morning, sunlight spilled through the picture windows and filled the dining room, yet it did nothing to lift the heaviness inside me.
I sat at the table, slowly drinking my milk in numb, mechanical sips.
What happened the night before had wrung me dry, leaving my heart strangely hollow.
“Ma’am…” The housekeeper lingered beside me, hesitant, her expression tinged with unease. “Alpha still hasn’t come back, and there’s been no word from him. Maybe… you should call him? Lunch is already prepared.”
I set my glass down, lifted my napkin, and wiped my mouth with practiced grace before answering in an even, detached tone, “There’s no need. He’s a grown man. He knows how to look after himself.”
The housekeeper let out a quiet sigh and didn’t dare to say more.
At that moment, the phone beside me on the table began vibrating frantically. At first, I assumed it was Frank or something related to work, but when I looked down, my screen was overflowing with social media alerts.
“Ethan Voss Speaks Publicly About His Private Life for the First Time.”
“Exclusive Interview with the Thorn Pack Alpha! Shocking Insider Revelation!”
“Who is the Alpha’s real love?”
