Chapter 246:
It felt like something was watching me, like a predator waiting in silence. I instinctively lifted my head.
There, on the second-floor balcony, Ethan stood in the shadows alone.
From above, he stared down at me with a cold and unsettling gaze, as if passing judgment.
When I entered the villa, an eerie silence greeted me.
Despite the sharp pain in my knees, I headed straight upstairs and pushed open the door to the master bedroom.
Moonlight spilled across the room, casting everything in a pale glow. Without turning on the lights, I moved toward the closet from memory.
I needed my suitcase. I wanted to leave this suffocating place.

But when I reached the spot where it should have been, there was nothing there.
A sharp click rang out, and the overhead light burst on, flooding my eyes with harsh brightness.
Ethan stood at the doorway, his figure backlit, his presence wrapped in a cold and suffocating aura.
“What are you searching for?” he asked, his voice eerily steady.
“My suitcase,” I answered coldly.
“What do you need it for?” He stepped forward, his shadow swallowing me whole.
“I’m leaving.” I met his gaze without flinching, calmer than ever. “Ethan, the way you treated me at the club made everything clear. I might not come from a privileged background, but I won’t degrade myself by clinging to you. Let’s end this bond peacefully. I don’t want anything else, but I’m taking our child with me.”
“Taking the child?”
Something in those words set him off. His eyes turned sharp, almost feral.
His hand shot out and seized my wrist, forcing me back against the cold door.
“Where do you plan to take the child? To that man who brought you home? Or to Frank?” He leaned closer, his breath heavy with alcohol and medicine. “Lianne, do you really think I’m that easy to deceive? Do you expect me to raise another man’s child?”
I snapped my head up, shock cutting through me. “What are you talking about? Another man’s child?”
“I’ve already seen the report.” A cold laugh escaped him, his eyes laced with mockery. “The timing doesn’t match. I wasn’t with you during that period. So where did this child come from?”
“That report is fake! Someone framed me!” My voice rose as anger shook through me. “Ethan, you’re choosing to believe a fake report over me?”
“Fake?” He let out a laugh as if it were the most absurd thing he had ever heard. His fingers tightened around my chin with crushing force. “With all the men around you, why should I trust you? You were never clean to begin with!”
I slapped him with all my strength. The crisp sound rang out, echoing through the room.
Ethan’s face snapped to the side, and for a brief moment, something shifted in his eyes when he saw my tears spilling over.
That flicker didn’t last. In the next instant, whatever softness was there twisted into something darker and more unhinged.
Before I could react, he grabbed me and hurled me onto the bed without care.
