Chapter 260:
I bit down with every bit of strength in me until the taste of blood spread through my mouth. His collar was stained through with blood, but I still would not release him.
“Let me go. I want to end things with you. I never want to look at you again!” I cried, my sobs swallowing the words.
He showed no sign of feeling any pain, and his steps never once wavered.
He carried me into the master bedroom and threw me down onto the wide bed. The second I tried to lunge up and get away, his tall frame pressed me back down.
He bent close, his breath still warm against my ear, yet his voice was glacial. “We’ll speak after you’ve settled down.”
The moment the words left him, he straightened without warning and walked out without once turning around.
“Ethan! Get back here! How dare you lock me in!” I screamed and ran after him, only for the door to crash shut right in front of me.
Then came a click.

He had locked it.
I grabbed the handle and twisted it frantically, but the door would not move at all.
Shaking with rage, I pounded on it and shouted, “Open it! You lunatic! How dare you keep me locked up! Open the door!”
His footsteps grew fainter along the hall. He had left.
I kept kicking the door, crying, and cursing until my throat turned so raw I could barely force out a sound.
A sharp pain hit my chest, and I slid down the door, too drained to hold myself up. The chill from the floor crept straight through my back.
Then, all at once, a strange sensation shot through my lower belly.
What started as a faint, dull pain turned vicious in the next instant, as though some unseen force had gripped my womb and wrenched it downward.
A low groan tore out of me, and cold sweat broke across my back immediately.
The horrible sinking sensation worsened, and sharp cramping ripped through me so fiercely that even breathing became difficult.
“Ethan…”
Fear crashed into me at once, wiping out every bit of anger that had been burning inside me.
Somehow, I pushed myself upright and pounded on the door with the little strength I had left, my trembling voice full of panic. “Open the door, Ethan. My stomach hurts… Save the baby, Ethan…”
My voice kept fading, growing rougher and weaker with every word.
I dropped back onto the icy floor, and something warm began slipping out of me.
Through tear-blurred eyes, I stared at the firmly closed door as despair swallowed me whole.
Was I really about to lose my baby?
Ethan’s POV
I drifted through the villa, letting the icy wind sweep the clutter from my mind.
Once I was fully composed again, I made my way back to the master bedroom. I looked at the door, yet I still couldn’t force myself to step inside.
After what seemed like forever, I finally lifted my hand and tapped softly on the wooden door.
“Lianne? Are you feeling calmer now?” I called out carefully, my voice quivering a little before I even noticed it.
