Chapter 265:
I did not look at him, only rinsed my mouth and stubbornly reached for the bowl of cereal again.
“Stop eating. If it makes you feel this bad, rest for a while. I’ll tell the servant to prepare you a fresh bowl right away.” He caught my hand, his voice thick with worry.
I paid him no mind and continued eating.
But barely two seconds later, I doubled over the bed and vomited again. This time, even bitter stomach acid came up, and tears spilled down my face from the violent reaction.

Ethan’s brow tightened, and he called for the doctor at once.
After examining me, the doctor gave Ethan a shake of the head. “There is no organic problem in her gastrointestinal tract. This is a textbook case of psychogenic vomiting. Her mind is under overwhelming strain, and her body is reacting against it. I recommend psychological treatment.”
I watched Ethan follow the doctor out of the room, knowing full well that my body was rejecting this place, this atmosphere, and most of all, him.
After a while, Ethan came back.
He stood at the end of the bed, wrapped in shadow, and stayed silent for a long while before finally speaking in a slow voice. “Lianne, if being with me only brings you this much pain… then I promise you. When your health gets better, we will break the mate bond. I’ll let you go anywhere you want.”
I went still for a moment, then a bitter laugh slipped out of me and quickly turned into wild, uncontrollable laughter.
I laughed until tears ran out, until my chest began to hurt.
“What is the point of saying that now?” I stopped laughing and looked at him with open scorn. “Ethan, how many times have you apologized before? How many promises have you given me? And yet you have never really changed a single thing. This so-called letting me go is only because you think the child is dead and that I, a cursed woman, am worth nothing to you now, huh?”
I drew in a deep breath and said each word to him with cold, deliberate force, “There’s no need to wait. The moment I can stand and walk by myself, we are ending this bond at once. Not one second later.”
Lianne’s POV
The day Ethan and I were meant to sever our bond, it was as though the Moon Goddess had felt it coming. A heavy snow, rare for the Thorn Pack’s territory, came down without mercy.
A rare blizzard covered the city, wrapping the whole world in white.
I pulled my black cashmere coat tighter around myself and pushed open the door of the villa that had once made me feel like I was suffocating.
“Where is Ethan?” I asked the servant coming toward me, my voice cold enough to freeze.
“Alpha drank heavily last night and is still asleep in his room,” the servant answered with lowered eyes and visible unease.
He was drunk?
A cold laugh stirred inside me.
