Chapter 305:
The resort project had reached a crucial phase, and the whole site needed me there to make the calls. I had no time to lie in bed.
The moment I walked into the site office, Alex came over in a rush, his brows knitted tightly as he looked at me with open disapproval. “Lianne, why didn’t you rest a few more days? If Brian hears about this, he’ll skin me alive.”
I laughed softly and tapped his shoulder, telling him not to be so anxious. “You know my condition better than anyone. I’m nearly fine already. There’s no reason to keep wasting hospital resources.”
Then, I passed him the contracts I had gone through while lying in my hospital bed the night before, my face turning serious. “This is the first batch of suppliers I’ve shortlisted for the resort’s food services. Keep your eyes on these few. Brian has stressed more than once that food safety is important. There is no room for mistakes here. Understood?”
The moment he saw I was back in work mode, Alex straightened up and answered just as seriously, “You can count on me. I’ll keep a close watch on everything.”

During a break, I asked offhandedly about what had happened to the attackers from the other day.
“Those guys? Yeah, that’s the strange part,” Alex said, lowering his voice, his expression turning odd. “We figured they’d only be held for a few days, but apparently someone important stepped in and ordered the harshest possible charges. The main ones are probably going away for life.”
I blinked in surprise. “Did Brian pull some strings?”
Alex shook his head, and respect flickered in his eyes. “I asked him, and he said it wasn’t him. From what I’ve heard, the person behind it has so much influence that even the higher-ups in our company wouldn’t dare offend them.”
My heart jolted once, and that dark figure flashed across my mind, but I quickly dismissed it and inwardly laughed at myself.
Whoever had done it, it worked in my favor as long as the problem had been dealt with.
I told Alex to keep following up on the matter and make sure no further conflict broke out, then lowered my head back to the thick stack of design blueprints.
The resort project was big, involving everything from food and accommodation to entertainment facilities. I had to keep watch over every part of it myself.
I was driving myself so hard because I wanted a large bonus from a project this important.
After all, if I was going to move abroad with my two children, I needed every extra bit of money I could get.
In the afternoon, while reviewing the design plans for the amusement facilities, I immediately saw through the contractor’s trick.
