Chapter 315

Chapter 315:
“He did, but I don’t care, and I don’t need to ask about it. To me, all of that is in the past.” His voice gentled, but his confidence never wavered. “I’m not trying to threaten you, Lianne. I’m only asking you to give me a chance, to give us a chance and see where it goes. If, when the time comes, you still think this won’t work, I won’t force you to be with me.”
His tone was almost pleading, but I knew very well that if I rejected him too directly right now, it would anger him.
Men from the upper circles valued their pride more than anything. I was afraid that if he lost his temper, he would reveal everything to Jeremy, and once that happened, the entire situation would spin completely out of control.
“I’ve been overwhelmed with the project lately. I don’t have the headspace to think about this right now.” I drew in a deep breath, stalling for a little more time. “When things calm down, I’ll give you an answer, alright?”
“Fine. I can wait for that.” Brian smiled with clear satisfaction.
The moment he left, I sank down onto a bench, relieved for the time being, yet more frightened than ever.

Everything was slipping out of control at an alarming speed.
I had to work out a way to escape this situation immediately. Otherwise, the second Ethan noticed something was off, I would never be able to get away again.
Ethan’s POV:
The conference room on the highest floor of the Voss Group was cold enough to bite, the crushing tension in the air evident.
The investment department manager stood in front of the projector screen, his voice faintly unsteady as he delivered the quarterly project report.
I sat at the head of the long table in a perfectly cut black suit, my fingers striking the tabletop in a steady rhythm.
Each time my brows drew together, the shareholders and senior executives around me instinctively stopped breathing.
The air was strung tight, like a cord stretched to its breaking point.
At that moment, a quiet knock at the door shattered the tension.
Noah bent down and spoke in a low voice by my ear. “Adrian is here. He brought someone with him.”
I raised my eyes, my voice cold enough to freeze the room. “Who?”
“Miss Brooks.”
The instant I heard that name, my heart sank, and an indescribable disgust surged through me.
A cold smile touched my lips. My voice was low, yet every person in the room could hear it clearly.
“Without my approval, she is not part of the Voss Group. She has no right to step onto this floor.”
The meeting continued, but the vague profit numbers and risk reports full of mistakes drained the last of my patience.
I snapped the folder shut. The crisp sound made the manager jolt.
“This project is suspended until further notice.” I rose in one swift motion, my gaze sweeping over everyone present like a sharpened blade. “If you can’t handle your work, then resign. The Voss Group has no use for dead weight.”
With that, I walked out, leaving behind a room full of executives drenched in cold sweat.
As the elevator doors opened on the top floor, the first thing I saw was Noah standing there without expression, blocking Ivy’s path.
