Chapter 333:
She wasn’t wrong. With navigation systems everywhere nowadays, how could an experienced driver repeatedly get lost in Queen District?
Still, I was afraid of reading too much into things. I shook my head lightly. “Don’t overthink things. He’s probably just being polite. Come on, let’s head back.”
The atmosphere inside the private room worsened after we returned.
Mark continuously found reasons to toast me, while Jason eagerly encouraged him from the side. The two of them were clearly working together to get me drunk.
Even Bella wasn’t spared. They repeatedly filled our glasses while casually tying the project’s progress to every drink, pressuring us without openly saying it.
Seeing my growing discomfort, Oscar clenched his jaw and swallowed glass after glass himself, trying his best to protect me.
As I stared at the alcohol placed in front of me once again, cold unease spread through my body.
I was trapped at a table full of calculating strangers. All I could do was keep forcing a smile onto my face while enduring the situation, silently hoping this suffocating dinner would end before something went wrong.

Oscar and Bella were already flushed from all the alcohol. As I watched them, I caught the smug satisfaction on Mark’s face. He exchanged a subtle look with Jason, clearly telling him to keep the drinks coming.
It was obvious what they were planning. Tonight, none of us were supposed to leave sober.
My head started pounding, growing heavier by the second, while my vision slowly became blurry.
I couldn’t let Bella stay here any longer. She had only just been discharged from the hospital, and her body was still weak. If something happened to her because of all this drinking, I would never be able to forgive myself.
“Oscar.” I forced myself to remain calm and reached out to stop Jason from pouring more wine. My tone was icy and decisive. “Brian just sent a message saying he needs an urgent document. Take Bella back to the hotel and send it to him immediately.”
I shot Oscar a sharp look that made it clear there was no room for refusal. “I’ll be okay on my own here.”
Oscar paused briefly. His eyes flicked toward Mark, who was staring at us like a hunter watching trapped prey. Then, he looked back at me. Eventually, he clenched his jaw and nodded.
Supporting the unsteady Bella, he quickly guided her out of the private dining room.
The moment they left, the atmosphere turned noticeably heavier.
Mark and Jason no longer bothered pretending to be courteous.
They kept taking turns pouring drinks for me. After drinking one glass, another was pushed into my hand.
Using his drunken state as an excuse, Mark became increasingly bold. His thick hand repeatedly reached for my shoulder, and he even tried touching my face.
“Ms. Riley, why work so hard?” Mark leaned closer, the strong smell of alcohol on his breath making me sick. “Stay by my side, and in Queen District, any project you want will be yours.”
