Chapter 335:
Without hesitating for even a second, I hurried over and scooped her into my arms.
She was even lighter than I remembered from three years ago, so fragile that it made my heart hurt.
As I looked down at her completely defenseless expression, my face darkened instantly.
I didn’t even dare to imagine what could have happened to her here if I had arrived a little later.
I had always known that once the mate bond between us was severed, other males would eventually start pursuing her.
But during these past three years… had she always been this vulnerable?
The thought that she might have exposed such weakness before other men made jealousy and rage burn uncontrollably inside me.
After returning to the hotel, I carried her straight into my suite.
I couldn’t bring myself to trust anyone else to take care of her, not even Bella, who worked as her assistant.
I had someone deliver a fresh set of women’s clothes. After shutting the door, I took a slow breath and awkwardly began helping her change out of the clothes she was wearing.

My hands trembled slightly. Every accidental brush against her soft skin sent a strange current racing through my body.
Just as I was about to head into the bathroom to get a wet towel to clean her face, her hand suddenly shot out and tightly grabbed the hem of my shirt.
Ethan’s POV
“It’s so warm in here…” Lianne whispered weakly, her voice carrying the faint tremor of someone on the verge of tears.
A painful knot twisted in my chest as I pressed my palm against her forehead. She wasn’t running a fever, yet her cheeks were crimson, and every breath that left her lips came out uneven and scorching.
The wine she had drunk had clearly been tampered with.
I reached for my phone, intending to call for a doctor, but before I could unlock it, she suddenly grabbed me with startling force. Caught off guard, I stumbled forward and landed right on top of her.
For a second, my thoughts went blank.
We were so close. Her face was still heartbreakingly beautiful. Beneath the heavy scent of alcohol lingered that soft fragrance unique to her, delicate and clean, stirring up every buried desire I had spent years trying to suppress.
I forgot to move away. I forgot she belonged to someone else now. I forgot the endless distance those three years had carved between us.
At that moment, her eyes slowly fluttered open. The instant she saw me, I instinctively tried to pull back, but her grip only tightened, stopping me.
“Why do you… resemble Ethan so much?” she slurred softly, her gaze unfocused, hurt hidden beneath the drunken haze in her voice.
My chest tightened painfully. I swallowed hard before forcing out a rough reply. “You’re drunk.”
“I must be drunk… otherwise, I wouldn’t mistake you for him…” A bitter laugh escaped her lips, soft and broken. Every word pierced straight through me.
